Perch
Salmon
Catfish
Talipia
Cod
Others?

I do not live near the coast, so all my fish needs to be frozen :(

My opinions on frozen fish:

Wild Salmon: Pretty flavorless
Cod: Texture is REALLY screwed up compared to fresh cod.
Catfish: Ehhh... not a big fan of catfish.

catfish

BTW, you do realize we can catch catfish here in the non-coastal states? We don't have to buy it frozen.

I've recently started eating Talipia and like it.....I like the texture and how well it holds up on the grill on in a skillet.

Oh jeez. I guess I should just go to the store and randomly select fish then.

On a side note, I've got a couple of filets of cod that I still have to polish off, and I'm not looking forward to it because the flesh is so... spongey.

I've also got a box of frozen whole Yellow Croakers that I'm thinking about tossing because there are just too many bones to make eating even three whole fish worthwhile or enjoyable.

Yeah, that's usually how it is with variety foods (cheese, wine). :D

That musta been downundafish ;)

Almost all frozen fish sux. As ice particles form in the flesh it destroys the texture. Granted, it CAN be flash frozen without damaging the meat, but all too often, in the time between catch and table, it's handled way too many times, and can be partially thawed and refrozen.

I love freshly caught, cleaned & fried yellow perch fillets.

Preferably covered with tartar sauce & fresh ground pepper. mmmmm :p

I also enjoy walleye, rainbow trout and salmon steaks.

The closest is previously frozen and dethawed fish out in the display. There is a place around me that sells fresh fish but it's kinda far away. I wish I lived by the coast :(
