What's your favorite 80mm case fan?

I like the panaflo H1. Power it with 5v and it's nice and quiet. Switch it to 12v and it's fairly quiet, but moves a lot of air.

Panaflo L1A. Check out the new Acoustifan 80mms though, Sleeve bearings. I have a 120mm, VERY quiet.

Nope. Sleeve bearing-1 ball bearing-2 ball bearing-Oil damped-Magenetic drive. All with different properties and wear patterns. Quality fans can make a huge difference in terms of noise.

Don't forget ceramic bearings. 🙂

Indeed! 300k hours MTBF. Impressive. Looking at reviews now, thanks for the heads up Hero.

First choice: Vantec Tornado
second choice: Thermaltake Smart Case Fan II

AMD Athlon XP T-Bred B DLT3C 1700+ @ 2.3GHZ (1.775v) 400FSB = 3200+
Abit NF7-S V.2 (nForce2-U400)
Corsair TwinX XMS 3200LL 512MB @ 2-3-2-6 (2.6v)
Sapphire Radeon 9500 Pro 128MB
Antec TrueBlue 480W
Thermalright SLK-947U with 92mm Vantec Tornado @2800RPM
Antec PlusView 1000AMG
Cambridge SoundWorks MegaWorks THX 550 5.1

Thermaltake Smart Case Fan II .. it's the panaflo quiet on low settings and vantec loud on high settings and comperable cooling to each when at each setting. Pretty much 2 fans in one.

also come with thermal sensors and a dimmer switch.

I actually prefer my YS Tech variable-speed fan. Dial it low for Panaflo L1A performance or high for Tornado cooling.

I like my Sunon case fan. It is decently quiet and works great for exhausting. Now for extreme cooling I go with the Tornado.

So far I am very happy with the vantec tornado fans
nice rpm/cfm although they cost a good bit more than most fans they are basically some of the most powerfull case fans you can buy
