Inspired by the FICO scored thread.

Have you ever came close to your credit card limit? If yes, what did you buy?

Credit limit: $2000. No, haven't come close ever, but I've only had my cc for about a month now. I also don't see myself charging over $1000 of stuff in a 1 month period.

Limit's $8,000... I don't think I've ever even spent above $150. I use my debit card for pretty much everything.

Between my cards about $75,000. Got offered a card with a $100,000 once, but it wasn't from a company I wanted.

The two cards that I use combine to roughly my yearly salary. The most I ever had on one card is just over $4000. I always pay in full each month, so I'd have a hard time spending more than that on a credit card and still be able to pay it off in full.

It's now in the upper 30's due to some BoA and MBNA merger complications where my highest limit CC was cloned onto a second account :)

I really want an AMEX, but I'm affraid what it will do to my ego if I apply for one and they turn me down again :(

Nothing pisses me off more than being "pre-approved" for a card, taking the time to apply and then not getting it :(

student loan is about $15000, the other stuff is just laptop, car emergencies, basic living, stupid impulse buys. ;)

~$28,000. i basically lived on it during law school but the debt (about $20,000) is at microscopic interest rates because of all the balance transfer offers. i just swap it between cards every once in a while to keep the rates low. i'll be paying it off shortly, now that i've got a real job. prior to returning to school i paid it off every month.

I really hate MBNA. They screwed me with a "0% transfer balance until paid in full." I cut them off immediately.

My office does credit advising for american consumers, and if all those credit cards are withing $700 of being maxed out, you should know it's affecting your credit score badly. Do you know what your credit score is? being close to 700 to max is terrible for your score.

Ah. I hope for your sake the CCs aren't ripping you a new one and that your credit score isn't too trashed by using too much of your available credit. Those stupid impulse buys can really bite you.

credit score is about 620 i think, not great but i'll bring it back up over a couple of years not a huge deal. never made a late payment or missed anything.

Wachovia outsourced all of its CC's to MBNA. When BOFA bought MBNA out, Wachovia wanted to take all of the accounts home. Something didn't go according to plan and I found out that I was going to be issued a BOFA card soon unless I contacted Wachovia? Wachovia issued me a brand new card, brand new account with no further credit checks or anything at my old limit, and then told me that I could cancel the old account (now with BOFA) IF I wanted to. Now, tell me. Why (except for BOFA's terrible information security policies) would I ever dream of canceling my oldest CC? ;)

Well, the american average 678, 620 is a little low but not terrible. You may consider spreading the CC debt around on those cards of yours. Meaning average them out either with transfer balances or paying off more for the really high ones. Your debt/credit ratio per card is key to your credit score.
