weird, I have Client 3.0 running 24/7 on Mandrake 7, K6-2 400, 128MB in CLI or GUI and only manage 1.7 units a day. (?) What nice -xx setting do you all use?

Here SETI is running on 3 machines, (K6-2 450, 64MB running GUI 3.0)x2 and one K6-3 450 128MB running the previous GUI release (2.04?).

So my machine is right in there then if your 3 do 3 a daythats 1 each. :) cool I feel a little better but since this machine only has one other duty that requires very little CPU time I figure I can tweak the nice settings to get better results, any suggestions?

Currently ranked #394.......but rising. :)

So 1 machine does about 1 a day........I have 2 others that can do it P/T so maybe I can up it to close to 3 a day. well matbe not, seems the K6-400 on Linux kicks the pants off a K6-2 450/Win98 and a Celery 366@550/W2K.....oh well, that figures. :) Should have a P-!!! 600e@800/Win98SE P/T in few weeks that should help. ;)

Hmmm, mine is @ 60% after 15 hours......GUI screensaver though. My Linux K6-2 400 is close to lapping it! LOL.

Have you enabled 'blank screen' in the screen saver settings & set it to less than 5 mins? or have it 'always run' with the window minimised?

My longest WU with GUI v3.0 was 10hrs 53m

Its in taskbar and then screensaver is set for 5 minutes. :) So however that is, its running all the time. its 65% done in 17hrs 45mins........:Q

I just looked and it is running in the background and then screensaver takes over after 5 minutes.

I think it has to do with the fact that I am constantly using this machine for surfing, playing yadda yadda............

I think I'm doing a litter over 60WU/day. A 15-20 at home and 42-47 at work.

Shuxclams: Make sure you have the "blank screen" box checked on your Seti@Home screensaver properties. If you let the GUI client display the pretty graph you'll double the CPU time. :)

Yeah as Rob says ,I don't mean just having the screensaver start I mean having the screensaver blank the screen after a few mins ,this kills the graphics output & halves the WU time ,its not the power saving features either

I have a K6-2 450/256MB RAM running v3.0 gui and it takes about 17.5 hrs/WU...so your machine seems about right. To show just how weak the K6 core is, I just put 3.0 gui on my P233MMX/64MB RAM. It did a WU in 20.5 hours! hehehehehe, FPU FPU FPU.

Oh, BTW, looks like i'm at about 30 WU's/day lately. I did some major assimilations over this last weekend, and it showed. I was up to about 40+ WU's/day. :)

Well I have it running "all the time" for the time being, I am running it on W2K pro and this version doesnt have the blank screen option... its OK I have a bunch more Wu's at this point and the Linux Box is going at a decent clip....thanks :)

I believe all the GUI clients have a blank screen mode. Go to your desktop properties, click on the screensaver tab, make sure SETI is set as your screensaver, and go into the screensaver properties. On that screen should be a check box to have it go to blank screen mode. It should help your work unit times a lot, and that's better for the team! :)

Yes, like Sukhoi said, you should be able to enable "blanks screen" mode in the Seti@Home screensaver properties. Also, I'm not positive but I think you should have the regular "blank screen" as an option under Win2K. Just check your Control Panel | Add Remove Programs | Windows Setup and I'm pretty sure there's a setting under there to add more screen savers. I could be wrong but I think my Win2K had "blank screen" as an option and I know I enable them all when I install it.
