My realistic dream?
To become a known, respected, tenured, and well-published college professor. To own a beautiful house, which doesn't mean huge, just very comfortable and homey. I don't know where exactly I want to live, but wherever it is I would hope to love it. To have a dog, a couple of kids, a loving and devoted life, and great friends. I hope my parents live long, healthy lives. I would want enough money to take several trips a year either domestic or abroad, some for sightseeing, others for outdoor activities.

Basically my dreams aren't too elaborate, but if the above scenario were to happen I think I would be 100% satisfied in life.

My American dream is for Americans to realize that their personal wants are not something unique to one culture, time, or place.

"To believe your own thought, to believe that what is true for you in your private heart is true for all . . . that is genius . . . a man should learn to detect and watch that gleam of light which flashes across his mind from within, more than the luster of the firmament of bards and sages. Yet he dismisses without notice his thought, because it is his. In every work of genius we recognize our own rejected thoughts; they come back to us with a certain alienated majesty."

I want a house in a small community where I can be with my immediate family (wife and kids, someday...), and to have my extended family nearby. My family makes me happy, and as long as I can be with them my dreams will fulfill themselves.

The reason the whole world hates the USA is because if you can dream it and work at it you can make it happen.

My dream is small. I want a paid-off house, with some acres, and I can take care of the rest. :p

unfortunately, it's our consumerism that is the cause of our great living standards.
