We start back in the mid-to-late 60's 'til now.Psychedelic/Blues was my first recollection of "Heavy" music. The Yardbirds seem to be the seminal group....Jimmy Page,Eric Clapton,Jeff Beck.....all in the same group(Well.. there was some overlapping of studio tapes, etc.). Or maybe we'll go back to the early -to-mid 50's? Little Richard? >Or< before that, the blues masters? I'm thinking Robert Johnson,Willie Dixon, et al. What do you think?

I was and still am really into the whole grunge thing... Favorite band to come out of it is Alice in Chains.

I also REALLY enjoy Pearl Jam, Nirvana, SoundGarden, and the Stone Temple Pilots.

I agree 100%.I love power music.Even classical, when I'm in the mood(rarely!).I dislike 99% of rap,and hip-hop.Here's some of the concerts I've seen in my lifetime(see if you can guess my age!):

Page and Plant,Black Crowes,Counting Crows,BB King,Johnny Winter,Jethro Tull,Rainbow,Deep Purple,SRV,Jeff Beck,Eric Clapton,Kenny Wayne Shepherd,The Stooges(Iggy Pop),MC5,The Frost,Van Halen,Tom Petty,Bob Dylan,ZZ Top,Ted Nugent,Bob Segar, Lynard Skynyrd,The Rolling Stones,Mountain,Rush,AC/DC,SRC,Jefferson Starship,The outfield,38 Special,Yngwie Malmsteen,Aerosmith,Alice Cooper,Bad Company,Crosby/Stills/Nash,Uriah Heep,Nazareth,Santana.

Some of these I've seen twice,a few, several times. These are all I can remember right now!I'd like to see Soundgarden, and Pink Floyd.

I have all of zeppelins albums, pink floyd, rolling stones, deep purple, ccr, the doors, black sabbath, hendrix, the beatles (later stuff that was cool and not poppy), the who, i could go on and on about em but i won't, and i love plenty of modern day rock bands. But not limp bizkit and sh|t like that.

The only way I can justify my long list is...it all depends on what mood I'm in.My favorite Power music group changes from hour to hour, minute to minute, song to song.

It wasn't very personable of you to demean my intelligence by calling me an 'Idiot'.You are quite possibly more intelligent than I am,but I'm doing the best that I can, with what I have.

mztykal:If it's stupid guitar music,than that's what I like.I also like beloved patriot-tonk style piano,and blues harp(harmonica).Beat synchronization is very cool,too.

I also enjoy many other forms of music...a little jazz,R&B,Zydeco,etc...usually if I can tell that the band is really "Into it" and feeling the groove, I'll like the music.

But my first love is Rock and Roll/Blues/Throwdown stuff.Power music.

My favorite CD this minute is "White Hot Blues" by Johnny Winter.A throwback to the late 60's/early 70's.Kicks mucho butt.

All time favourite is Metallica, closely followed by Iron Maiden, but the Metallica guys have the edge, as it was that band that got me interested in metal in the beginnig.

I suppose Hard Rock/Blues/Throwdown is just my inability to place a 'label' on a certain kind of music.Don't you think it is wierd that Pink Floyd,Rage against the machine,Santana,Rod Stewart,AC/DC,Joe Satriani, and Soundgarden are all considered "Rock and Roll"? Some or most of their songs could also be classified as "Metal".Yngwie Malmsteen bases his music on 'classical'(what does that mean?),in particular the violinist Paganini!

Led Zepplin played a helluva lot of Blues, and derivations. The Rolling Stones made several 'Country' songs.

So...I don't know what specific name for the music. My BMG account lists my main genre as "Hard/Metal".

And for all of you AC/DC fans, have you ever heard their song "Down Payment Blues" with Bon Scott on Vocals? It's on the POWERAGECD.You might have to order that one, mine was an import from their home country of Australia.

"Shoot to thrill, shoot to thrill;too many women, and too many pills";yeah!"

That's a pretty broad effing category.

What about rap/R&B/country?

To answer your question: Stevie Ray Vaughn

The man was a deity.

the only good hard rock band is Tool. The rest are just wanking off for attention.
I'm an indie/alt guy. Yeah, Siva, crank up Billy and the band!
