What's wrong with wearing plaid?

I like wearing plaid pants - not the bright polyester one's that 70 year old golfers wear but tasteful muted cotton ones.

Anyway, I got some ribbing about it today. I thought I looked okay - it wasn't like I was wearing a plaid shirt too.

Is wearing plaid uncool or something?

Well, a few years ago I was extremely desperate for a girlfriend. One day, while having coffee with my friend, a pretty girl sitting next to me asked us to sit with her and her friend. She was wearing plaid pants and asked me what I thought. I told her they were nice, but inside they just turned me completely off. Plaid may look nice, but the bottom line is that it's completely unsexy.
