What's wrong with the LG G3?

I keep hearing how slow and laggy it is, but doesn't it harbors a snapdragon 801 processor. Which should still be decently fast.

I've had it for almost a month and don't see any lag. Where exactly is it laggy?

Otherwise I think its a great phone. Moderate use I get 18 hours out of the battery and don't have any complaints with the phone its self... My issues are with Android...

I had one for a short while. It has the best physical size for a 5.5" screen, good camera and was pretty smooth in use for me. Battery life was not very good for me as I was getting about 4-4.5 hours SOT. I don't go by how long the battery lasts overall as it and most other flagship phones are excellent in standby mode if you don't use it.

I have been using a OnePlus One since July and SOT is 5 hours some days but most days have been better than 6 hours so I just could not give it up.

The other issue was the weird screen/font sharpening. When viewing a lot of websites the text appears almost jagged which I could not get used to. It was most prevalent on sites with dark text on a lighter background.

If Lollipop straightens out the screen sharpening issue I may pick another one up as the battery is replaceable so I would just buy an extra battery for those days when I needed the extra juice.

It does have a removable battery so you did you get any extra ones for the G3?

G3's problem is the screen, text is way too sharp so web browsing and reading text in general looks worse compared to other phones.

Also how fast does the LG G3 take pictures? As in, does the picture get blurry when you are shooting videos/pictures while walking?

I guess if anything were wrong with it's performance, it would be pairing a 1440p display with a Snapdragon 801 instead of waiting on the 805 that has the much more powerful GPU. It did strike me odd that LG didn't wait a bit for the 805.

The kicker is that there is a Snapdragon 805 version of the G3... in Korea. And yes, it's a considerably better match. Sadly, you probably won't see it here for any number of reasons, like supply commitments, FCC testing and other minutiae. Here's hoping the Snapdragon 810 finds its way into the G4, then.

I did not as I just picked it up as I came across it cheap on Swappa ($310) and ended up getting my preorder through for a Nexus 6 shortly after I bought it so the wife would kill me if I had it, OnePlus One and Nexus 6 so I had to thin the herd before the Nexus arrives Wednesday.

Nice phone but the sharpening drove me nuts as it should be crystal clear but whatever they do in the software makes it hard to read text. Movies, YouTube, etc. Look awesome but most of my browsing is forum based so it got annoying very quickly.

Was seriously considering getting a G3 because the specs look awesome but got a IP6 because there was a promotion where you could turn in up to 3 iphones (2,3G,3GS) for $200 credit (each) if you upgraded to the new iPhone.

Other than being slightly underpowered, I like the G3 a lot. Been playing with both the G3 and Note 4 and I prefer the G3. The Note 4 amoled screen is too soft and lacks detail. Although there is a bit of text sharpening, I like the G3 screen much more.

I have both right now so I'm deciding which one I should sell.

The screen might be underpowered, but I dunno. I felt like the phone just felt cheap and plasticky in my hands. I was comparing it to the Nexus 6 today, and the N6 felt very premium.

I also still am not a fan of buttons on the back. It works fine when you pick it up, but there are times I'm on a call and my phone sits on the desk (headset), and I just want to tap the volume buttons on the side. No go. Same with if I have my phone on a cell phone holder in the car. Oh, and the buttons felt cheap to me also.

Why did they put a 1440p display then? does it make a difference than a 1080p display?

Because they wanted to be the first with a 1440p display, later they released a g3 with s805 but only in korea.

Sharpening is easily fixed by going to settings > general > accessibility > color adjustment:

With that being said I love my G3.

The g2 is/was a better phone. Just a bit too early for 1440p. Kinda like some of the early 1080p devices I bought before a SOC was really ready to run them. Sharp, but kinda annoying.

Former G2 owner, current G3 owner. The G2 was a better phone.

Two areas where the G2 was better was battery life and screen brightness. If they stuck with 1080p the G3 would be hands-down better than the G2.

That said, the G3 is in no way a bad phone. It's actually the only 5.5" device that still manages to be reasonably sized (I'm looking at you 1+1 and 6s).

My wife has a G3 and I have a Note4. The form factor of the G3 is impressive. It really doesn't feel as large as it is. The curved back makes it very comfortable in hand. Neither of us has noticed any real lag but maybe we're not really "power users"? At any rate, no regrets about buying it. She's had it since launch.
