What's wrong with Nero?

I finally learn how to rip CD and convert it to MP3 files. I was exciting so I decided to burn my first "custom made" Bob Marley album. And..Woo, right at the start of the burning process I knew something was wrong, the whole process took less than 1 min. Nero didn't convert MP3 files to something readable by CD player, it's still MP3 on the CD-R AHH!! why is this happening? How do I get Nero to convert automatically?

Little off topic here but what do you guys use to rip CDs? I haven't made MP3s of my CDs so long I forgot how.

Bah.......I have to admit it I was stupid

But it's really quite hard to choose audio if not using wizard....
