Whats Wrong With My Scanner????

I have a Visioneer OneTouch 8800 USB scanner running under Win XP PRO and all of a sudden when I try to scan something the background is gray.... And the copy is lousy. This seems to happen no matter what settings I use. The scanner is using PaperPort 7.0

Any Ideas?

Forgot to mention all drivers are up to date.

umm... shot in the dark here... try running the scanning softwre in compatability mode?
