What's wrong with my Plextor 8432?

It just recently started acting up on me. The green LED flashes on and off constantly. In the BIOS, the drive is detected properly. In Win2k and Win98, the drive is shown in system settings as working properly. It is unable to read or write to any CD.

As I said - the flashing is constant. I've tried disconnecting the IDE cable, and leaving the power cable connected, and the LED still flashes just the same. I have tried updating the BIOS of the drive, that completed successfully. Yet the problem persists.

Any insight would be appreciated.

I know you've flashed the BIOS, but have you tried flashing to an earlier BIOS? Called Plextor tech support yet?

Bah, I'm getting 15 flashes from the LED. On Plextor's FAQ, it tells me that if I take any discs out and restart, the drive should work fine. If it doesn't, here is the return for warranty number...
