I wasn't.

You don't know alot about me.

Agreed. I find that people think in america that the government are watching them every minute.

Difference being that we might think that the government is, Brits know it for a fact.

You think that every CCTV camera is focused on you with someone sat behind the monitor making notes about your life? They aren't watching you, unless you are in public and committing a crime.

Can you accept that some people are uncomfortable with government having the power to watch them wherever they go in public places?
(weather they actually do so or not)

There is much more distrust when it comes to the government when it comes to us Americans for historical reasons.

Right, they're not looking at you because you are a boring "safe" person. You will never cause trouble for the state, you won't rise up, you won't stand up for yourself. Not that I blame you, if you did the government would just wait for you to jaywalk on one of those stupid cameras and throw your ass in jail.

Would you be ok with your roommate putting cameras all over your apartment (with the exception of your bedroom)? He promises he's not watching you. After all, if you're not doing anything wrong, what's there to worry about?

Those aren't arguments against speed cameras...

You might as well use 'enemy spies' as an argument against trench coats...

Yes they are.

It's easier to create speed traps with speed cameras, and they don't even fix the safety risk that comes with speeding, whereas a cop does. Useless.

Changing the timing on lights to get people for running red lights is extremely dangerous.

And having a private company do the work is a huge conflict of interest. Their interest is in profit, not safety; they want the cameras to catch as many people as possible, which could involve tampering with the cameras. It's pretty damn hard to contest a speeding ticket.
