THese are some of the things I've thought about already...

ugh. I hope that was about how people wrongly blame videogames and movies for everything.

Please don't say that you believe that videogames and media violence actually cause kids to kill each other...

Those are world-wide problems, though
Pollution in California, or crime in New York is what I would do.
Looks for more Us-related problems is all I can suggest.
If that helps..

Crime in New York is at an all time low though I think :)

Try the elian gonzalaes deal. That should have been over in a few days and look how long it was dragged out.

What's wrong with the USA?

We don't own the other half of Canada. ;)

"AOL buys the rest of Canada. Eviction notices to be mailed out on Monday."

:)

The hordes of REDICULOUSLY STUPID PEOPLE. They're everywhere, if you know where to look. Hell, you can find thousands of them if you just look at the people who're supporting those morons who couldn't figure out how to vote in Florida.

Then look in culture: what type of dumb moronic girls will go to a concert, waiting outside for hours to get tickets, or spending too much money, to see some guy who could be seen on the internet, or TV, or be heard on the radio, cd, or downloaded from napster.

People who use AOL because they think it's cool.

People who use AOL because their friends do.

People who use AOL because they like the commercials.

People who use Road Runner cable because they like the commercials.

Then there are the morons on this board: I don't know how they got here, but they did, and the mods are too lenient. (this message is not intended for anyone in particular)

I've got absolutely no prob. with Road Runner. Their commercials just piss me off. That weird nerdy guy who sounds constipated when he says "And there's never any busy signals". Who the hell is that supposed to appeal to? Nerds? Geeks? Dumbasses? I can't tell.

There is plenty wrong with the US and not seeing anything wrong with it is the biggest problem(nothing personal intended although that seems to be prevalent in American society) or perhaps you are still young and lack the experience to recognize faults in the system. Anyway, I'll offer a few political problems, as it seems to be what your project is most likely focused on.

1) The apparent tendency by politicians to attempt to overturn elections with lawyers/court/legal tactics. This not only pertains to the current election situation, but the whole Clinton administration was plagued by legal wrangling. I don't know who started this tactic, but it undermines the political system.

2) Voter apathy. The US continues to select politicians with about 50% voter participation. This basically means that 25ish% of the voting population selects who rules. Not a good situation.

3) Divisive political bickering. This is probably somewhat the cause of voter apathy. How long can the electorate listen to "Party/Politician X will destroy America!" before the electorate tunes politics out? To a large extent, this has already happened. Politicians should state their beliefs or intended policies and leave the electorate to decide on that alone. If demonization is necessary to gain support/attention, then America is already a rotting corpse not worth saving.

All in all the solution to the US's political problems lies with the voter. Hopefully before the electorate totally tunes out, they will rise up and turf the 2 ruling parties. That smack across the head will shake politians to the core and force them to play nice.

Police brutality, easy access to guns for kids, there is alot more but these are perhaps the biggest that I can think of right now.
