many things could be wrong.. you'll have to figure it out yourself. Just take everything out and connect only the essential and start from there.

the ic7 max3 liked to undervolt my 2.8e by a good amount (so much that it wasn't stable infact), you might wanna check that out.
also don't just take the default settings in the bios, go through and make sure everything is set the way it should be. You got a lot of memory; make sure the timings/vdimm are acceptable too (might need 2.8v for 200mhz or more in some cases)

the problem is that nothing comes on the screen anymore, its like there's no processor installed.

maybe you can put your old proc in there and set all the bios settings, save it, then turn it off and plug the new cpu back in

hopefully yur cpu isn't bad
kinda odd that it was working and now it isn't

good luck

also try hitting the insert key several times (or holding it down) while the system is rebooting
maybe it'll reset something and let you boot the system back into the bios

check the actual voltages because you might have to set them a little higher just to get the right/default voltages

its a new computer build. i finally got it put together this morning.

some background:

when i first installed it, the fan didn't spin for some reason, but i shut it off, and refit it properly, then it booted up and went fine for about 1 hr. then it started to freeze, and now when i turn it on, nothing happens on the screen.

sounds more like a power supply problem.. you're not feeding enough power to the cpu.. i recommend that you take everythnig apart and put back in only what you need.. ie don't plug in the modem or hard drive or cdrw drives.. just see if it'll post and show video. Make sure your ram and agp card are in firmly.. reset the CMOS.. do you have thermal past between the cpu and heatsink? What temps were you getting before it stopped working?? Just give everything a check.. I doubt your cpu is toast.

edit 1: oh yea, make sure the ram is in all the way too..

edit 2: man i'm out of it.. i already said to check the ram!

dead motherboard or PSU would be the first guess. swap those 2 out first "if" u have spares.

you should be able to smell a dead mobo or psu... did you smell anything?? Also a great way of blowing your psu is to keep 'pumping' the psu - like if you can't get video to show and you just keep trying to turn it on and off.. the caps usually blow that way..

i smelled nothing, i have a 420 watt psu

i'll try disconnecting everything and see if i can get it to post. i had articsilver between the cpu and heatsink. i looked at the cpu, and nothing looks burnt. unforunately i don't think i have anything to swap out with. if the psu was blown, why would the mobo power up and fans fun and such??

The fans will spin up without a processor installed. They spin as long as they're getting voltage, but that still doesn't mean that your psu isn't bad. I agree that it's either your psu or processor, BUT, it could also be the motherboard (the AGP slot) or the video card also, but those last two aren't nearly as likely as the first two options.
