I've seen it make too many people dumb. It can be done "responsibly" I guess but I rarely see that.

Excessive alcohol isn't healthy either (I do this way too much here at school), but it's not affecting other things in my life such as relationships, my school work, cash flow (!), social circle, etc.

Alcohol can be just as destructive as weed, provided that one uses it enough.

I'd say alcohol. 15-20k deaths a year from it, and half a million injured from drunk drivers. Of course, that is largely attributed to it's availability. Pot, without getting totally stoned, doesn't impair your responses quite as much as alcohol does. Both from a health standpoint, are not good if abused.

we're all gonna die someday anyway. I have mixed feelings on whether it should be legalized or not. Legalizing it could lead to more people trying for the harder stuff. Then again, it could lead to lower crime, and it will certainly lead to less frivalous charges against people with small amounts of pot, which I think it is silly to throw people in jail for possessing a joint. The government could rake in an est $15-20/billion a year in taxes on it. It should be allowed for medical purposes in every state.

Beer and Wine in moderation are good for your heart. Wine is actually shown to reduce chances of dimentia later in life too.

Weed affects your brain and muscles. In majority cases it's just a toxin to your lungs. In small cases it's beneficial to muscle diseases just as opium would be.


Drink too much alcohol - you're an agressive stupid guy.
Smoke too much wwed - you're a passive stupid guy.

Perhaps if moderation was impossible or not part of this question then weed might actually be the better choice. But I say that knowing that moderation is definitely capable in any case.

Marijuana doesn't impair motor responses the same as alcohol does. A person stoned can talk and walk straight, while a drunk slurs words and falls all over themselves. I'd rather get into a car with an experienced pothead than a drunk.

Oh YES it does. Considering that it's illegal to grow or smoke it, when people do have some to smoke they do it sparingly and infrequently. If people smoked weed as often as tobacco you'd see the same statistics if not worse. Tobacco affects your adrenal glands and makes you high physically. Weed plays with your brain and makes you high mentally. You think a chainsmoking weed smoker wouldn't be a problem?

weed can give you cancer and kill you but as you said youwould have to CHAIN smoke it all day every day and you cant physically smoke that much. yull just pass out. simple as that

Ahhh thats why people in the transportation industry are subject to drug testing more than the average worker. Yes you can drive when stoned, but I'll bet everyting in my paypal account that your reactions are slowed when you are stoned.
 
Medical research may disagree with this, but from observing the people in my life, alcohol is worse, given that both are being used excessively.
My BIL and SIL smoke weed like most people drink coffee and although they aren't the sharpest knives in the draw they have jobs, own a house and are pretty laid back.
OTOH my Brother who started drinking when he was 17 has finally stopped drinking at age 30. He has brain damage, nerve damage, his lungs 'stick' causing breathing difficulties, he will be on medication for the rest of his life, has been put on a permanent sickness benefit and is never allowed to drive.

they test because drugs are illegal. The airlines have rules for alcohol consumption.. And yes, mary jane does slow down responses for some. I had a friend, who could drive stoned, she was a very aggressive driver. I felt safe in the car with her(she was my ride!! 😛). I never get into a car with someone drunk. Drunks don't realize when they're about to drive into a concrete wall

I would have to go with weed. I have done just about every drug in the book, but I felt that weed impaired me much more than alcohol. Alcohol never made me feel slowed down like weed did.

i could see that happening if you took so much that you weren't thinking properly or you were too blissed out to pay attention. but i've driven on harder psychedelics than weed, and the reaction time is still there. the problems show up when the road is twisting upside down and all the cars are all aiming right for you and the road is getting oh so narrow and the sky is falling and your fingers are melting into the stripes on the road and... 😉

1 joint has as much harmful tar as 8 cigarettes
Weed impairs your thought process and motor skills - hence "getting high". And a weed high is nothing like a cigarette "buz".

I've driven once on weed. Never do it again. Couldn't keep my eye's still enough to see the road straight.
