What's worse? Email Spam or Adware/Spyware?

Well, I'm getting pretty good with blocking and eliminating adware, but I do have that same proble MichealD has with the popups that spywareBlaster and Google don't seem to catch. So that is a pain in the a$$.

Now, for spam, I use mailwasher, but it's nothing more than a manual filtering system. Sure it let's me bounce the emails back, but that seems to do little good. And I have to make sure it didn't blacklist a legitimate email.

Not sure, which I hate worse, but I'm leaning towards the spam, since it's more of a pain in the butt to remove.

Adware/spyware. It's intrusive and invades your privacy. It takes over your computer.

Spam is for the most part easily filtered. We here at work used to get 400 a day before putting on Outlook 2k3 which pretty much filters 98% of the spam. My MSN email has great filtering now and I only get about 1 non-legit email a week now.

Spyware for sure because it installs stuff without your consent on your property. Mail you can at choose what to download/view.

Definitely Adware/spyware

A simple click of the delete button handles spam.

Of course my opinion may not count since I rarely get spam and have never had any spyware/adware.

Exactly... adware/spyware slows down the whole computer, while a spam email is just another regular email (provided it doesnt contain a virus/exploit).

Spyware/Adware by a long shot. Someone invades your personal computer with unsolicited sh!t which can and does affect the performance of your computer. The burden is on YOU to remove it when you never authorized it to be there to begin with. There is absolutely no difference with this than a virus, trojan or worm in my opinion and the people making this stuff should be prosecuted.
SPAM, on the other hand, while an annoyance and something I greatly detest, isn't as harmful and doesn't take over your system.

Ditto.

Spyware, by far.

Spam is annoying but most of it doesn't try to sneak into your computer and install stuff without your consent.

I take it you don't have kids, an ignorant wife, or ignorant (other) users who unknowingly click yes when a popup shows up? And you're also forgetting many programs constantly install it in the background. You'd never know unless you read page 36, line 4 inside paragraph 813 in some long ass EULA that no one reads anyway.

To be honest, I never used one with OE, although it would have been damn helpful back in the day. I heard K9 is supposed to be pretty good, although I don't know if it works with OE. (It does with Outlook, but a non Exchange box)

I would suggest purchasing Outlook and InBoxer. Very simple to configure and use.
