Yeah, there is nothing wrong with stating the obvious. The people who take offense are just idiots because any statement about their race that is a negative is racist? Even if the statement is true.

My mom uses that when driving. I think it is weird, but to each his/her own.

I think it has to do with Asians fascination to be paler and not tan. A asian girl with a light complexion is thought to be beautiful. Only rich people have light complexions in the old days because they didn't do manual labor outside.

I've seen people wear these while driving too. I was assuming it was light protection for when people get achemical peel on their face where they peel off like 3 or 4 layers of skin. I think after you get those done your supposed to avoid direct sunlight for few months to avoid sunburn.

It definitely works to keep out the sunlight, so no big deal. It just looks funny. And she mostly only uses it when driving in the sun.

Oh my god. Where do you guys come from/??/

I feel like I'm from the opposite end of hte universe. I'm from the Bay Area, and when you live in Silicon Valley and in a city that's 50% Asian, EVERY ASIAN MOM has got one of these. Do you guys live in communities with like NO ASIANS? I seriously thought we had people from Alhambra, Irvine and Hacienda Heights, etc... here--in addition to all those NorCal ppl.

In high school, we called these the DARTH VADER MASKS. The invasion came from Korea, and then soon all the Asian moms wanted one..

Well, the hype of these has died down already I believe. This was at least 3 - 4 years ago.

Go to Korea? Like 90% of ppl have these. I was in Taiwan and it's just insanely scary.

They go for about $20. Head to any local Ranch 99 market and check out the plaza, they're flooded with these.

They have a swivel thing so you can cover your whole damn face. My mom has one of these.
