What's with the robotic voices on Youtube videos

It is text-to-speech. Guess from someone either really shy or unable to speak english?
Worst, is a tech review where there is no speech but only visuals of some product with background music.

And, AND, reviews where the person spends 15 minutes first talking about nonsense totally unrelated. Describing what they had for dinner. Why they have a bandaid on their hand.
Or WHY they bought brand A instead of brand B.
Just the facts ma "am. And GET TO THE POINT.

And AND, we don't need another 10 minutes watching someone cutting open the box, and describing in length every wire, pamphlet, cable taken from the box.
Just show the unopened box for like 2 seconds, then cut to all the items laying next to the box that came in the box, another 2 seconds.

And KEEP YOU CAT OFF THE TABLE.
Geese, this is a tech review not a animal refuge.

Is there a youtube on youtube etiquette 😉

...and the crappy music in the background! I always have to mute.

I was watching so hacker tutorials, some of which were funny as hell. And they play the crappiest music. One so-called hacker video was how to DDos someone's computer. You know what he was doing? A constant ping. ROFL! He said it causes the computer to slow down so it must have an effect on his enemy. LOL

I see a growing number of videos on youtube that use a synthesized voice instead of an actual voice -- WTF?

This seems to be happening a lot more often and I can't figure out why. Is there some bot that's just automatically recycling other videos for clicks?

i agree,,,, these robotic crappy voices drive me nuts. I hate them with a passion...I want human voices... I suppose it saves the swines money to use a robot. It wont be long before they make humans redundant.... Im sure that's what's coming.

I hate these too. As soon as I hear them I immediately stop the video and move on even though I'm interested in the topic. I'm developing a mental list of these posters now so they won't get any views from me. Let's not even talk about the end cards 20 seconds from the end of videos that block what you are watching. I'm beginning to wonder why I pay for youtube red these days.

Looks like the videos got taken down lol. Voice may have had a similar audio profile as some copyrighted music or something.

I noticed the same thing too sometimes. Not everyone has a "radio voice" so if they don't they may choose to use a synthesizer, I gather.

All it is is an AT&T voice, etc. I have several of these voices to read things to me. One use is in a netbook I have in the kitchen called the kitchen kiosk that interprets the caller-ID and announces the name and number.

Yeah, I hate that crap. Video isn't worth watching. Sounds like shity M$ voices. Should have at least used AT&T voices. I've used them before to add audio to my flight sim to call out the altitude of the GPWS. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W5Z-d1Zx02o

My PMDG 737 has them already, but I added a GPWS to the F-22. LOL
How do we destroy these robots.. How can i chat to the Youtube people and say,, these awful voices are putting us off the videos.?

They do it to save money,,,, they are doing it all over the world.. the greedy sods...not allowing people a good job of narrating but using a crappy robotic voice that doesnt ask for a wage.. thats why... all i can say is sod off Youtube we hate them...

content farm bots

they crawl the intarwebz for content, run it through text-to-speech and post on youtube, everything is fully automated

That is actually kinda smart... you could pretty much have a bot just go through wikipedia and make videos. It could then show random pictures in a slide show format for each paragraph. the picture could be based on results from a search for what the video is about.

Though I imagine you'd get flagged for copyright pretty fast if you just did it verbatim and ripped it right off a web page.

There are a bunch of ad-like videos that use this. For example if you're searching for a car review and type in a model, you'll get alot of half-assed videos with a gallery slideshow of stock photos from the mfr's website and that stupid robot voice just repeating the car's name. i'm not really sure what the point of making a video like this does. Does it really generate enough hits to make money for the poster?

Bots aren't that smart yet. Yet...

What dark, rat invested part of the Internet was this at? I use an AD blocker so I don't see any of this. In fact, I've used an AD blocker for so long I don't even know how ADs have progressed.

ad blocker aint gonna stop this shit from happening.

for example, before the press was allowed to release their opinions and reviews on the new Lexus LS500, your search results for "Lexus LS500" would yield shit videos like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ijuJXvqPls
every car model you search for has this garbage. who makes this shit and why, i don't know.

Well, I'm in agreement there. There are a lot of shit videos on YouTube. I've seen some of the most bizarre crap there from people. I guess that's what happens when everyone and their uncle has the capability to cut their own video and upload it to a free video hosting platform with no sense of media validity (for lack of a proper word atm) once so ever.
