does it really take 5 hours to take a couple pictures in the church? :(

going to a wedding in PA today and there's like a 5 hour gap between the wedding and the reception... since it's out of town, it's not like I can go home and hang out in between and the only people at the wedding that I know are in the bridal party, so I've basically got 5 hours to sit in my car and read ><

wtf? that seems extremely excessive. the last wedding i attended was my sister's, and there was perhaps 30-45 minutes between the end of the wedding and the beginning of the reception.

the photos do take a while. Especially for all of the "reenactment" shots. putting the ring on finger, putting ring on finger with priest in background, putting ring on finger from grooms side, putting ring on finger from brides side, putting ring on finger close-up, adjust lighting for putting ring on finger and do it all again... and that's just for putting on the ring!

Our photographer took close to 3 hours to get all of our after ceremony shots and he said he felt rushed... I hated that guy.

good fcking hell i hate weddings. have another one i gotta go to in the fall. it will suck ass, as they all do. basically no worse way to spend one's time than being a spectator at a wedding. i'd rather dig ditches, honest to God I would.

I've only been to one wedding and the couple did take their sweet time after the ceremony.
Official excuse is pictures.
Unnofficial excuse is BOOM BOOM DIGGITY!

If the wedding invitations specify the time gap, it allows the guests to do something else... go home or back to the hotel, hang out at a bar, go fool around with your date, whatever.

What's really stupid is people hanging around forever in front of a church so they can throw rice while the photographer does endless shots of the wedding party.
