Don't worry brah, law is on my side. Slamming on your brakes to intentionally cause an accident is called insurance fraud.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Insurance_fraud#Automobile_insurance

I don't know why people think insurance fraud is legal. "Watch me slam on the brakes so the guy behind me hits me and causes a 4 car pile up during rush hour lololololol"
Those people should get the death penalty if it can be shown beyond reasonable doubt that they slammed on the brakes for no reason. Thousands of people die in car crashes every year, so intentionally causing an accident should count as attempted murder.

It's amazing how much fail can fit in a single person.

If you knew the real answer, you would have posted it already ;)

Let's use this trusty unit converter
http://www.digitaldutch.com/unitconverter/

120mph = 0.033333 miles per second
0.03333333 miles per second * 12 seconds = 0.39999996 miles

:hmm:

Sure... keep telling yourself that.

By the way your Corolla isn't 212 inches long... more like 179.3, which automatically makes all subsequent calculations wrong D:

You hate on me because I care about the environment

Here's the rub kid, you can't go on the record saying you have to speed to pass since you can't tailgate and then put up bragging posts about doing just that.

This drafting shit is ridiculous especially the fucktards that creep 100 yards to the redlight.

Around here they are constantly rear-ending people on the highway as well. Always a little ass hybrid up some SUV's ass now causing a 30 min backup wasting all that gas Joe Asshat was trying to save x 1000.

The DMV actually tells you to tap your brakes if someone is tailgating you. Remember because I got that one wrong last time I took a traffic class.

QFT...this is different than doing a 'brake check'. This same thing is what causes rush hour traffic to come to 10-20second stops. One guy taps his brake and the guy behind him instinctly does, rinse and repeat.

Still someone riding my ass that doesn't get the point to pass me or get off my ass always coincidentally has me thinking something just flew out in front of my car.

Seriously, someone riding my ass in their busted up hoopty is going to not be able to stop fast enough if I have too. 2750lbs of car, 6 pistons of braking, 12" rotors all four corners, Hawk pads and sticky tires.

So stay off my ass or learn the fine art of going bajaing.

Heh, my old car had some brake pedal travel, it wouldn't actually apply the brakes until the pedal was pushed at least an inch. However, it would turn on the brake lights just by lightly touching the pedal. So, this one time I had this guy who just kept getting closer and closer to my bumper (hmmm maybe it was ShawnD1 :hmm:). Got annoyed after a while, so as soon as he nudged even closer I used my left foot and just lightly pushed the pedal. Didn't apply my brakes at all, but it turned the brake lights on solid and wow that guy slammed his on really fast and was immediately many car lengths behind lol :D

He didn't get that close again :p

Jesus. If you're in a 2750lb compact car and I'm tailgating you in a work truck, you better not slow down for no reason. It might scratch my bumper :D

My Corolla has done this since day 1. It's a good thing because it warns drivers you're about to slow down before you actually slow down.

I'll play along some more...

Whoever came up with this law should be killed. It would be literally impossible to pass if it involved going the speed limit. How many hours or days would you spend in the oncoming lane if you were only going 5mph faster than the car you're trying to pass?

You are a criminal and you suck at passing. By law (in my area) you must be at LEAST 2 car lengths back before passing otherwise it's tailgating, and you need to be at least 2 car lengths ahead before going back into your own lane otherwise it's cutting the other person off.

A car is 212 inches long, or about 17.7 feet. Two car lengths back, plus car, plus two car lengths ahead = 5 car lengths needed to pass. That's 88.5 feet. At your 7.33ft/s speed, it would take 12 seconds to pass.
Since you are going 60mph and the oncoming traffic is coming 60mph, the gap between you and oncoming cars is closing at a rate of 120mph.
120mi/h * 12s * (1h/3600s) = 0.4 miles.

12s.. may as well round that up to a minute/hour/day, sure. Besides the fact that you already admitted to not following the 2 car length rule anyway.

Anyway, I have absolutely no problems passing.. I'm not driving a Corolla. My car is factory limited to 137mph iirc, and that was removed when it was tuned anyway.

Honestly, you're suggesting someone take 0.4 miles to pass. You must be suicidal. Please buy a gun and kill yourself at home instead of doing it on the highway and taking out some innocent family.

Stay classy bud.

That's the mentality....the reality is you will not hit me. You will do everything in your power to avoid that accident and impending lawsuit as well as the end of your career driving a work truck. As close as you think you are then, I know how much closer you can really get.

Meh, all Japanese domestic market cars are limited to 180 kmh (112 mph). That includes icons like the Skyline GTR, RX-7 FD, NSX, and even the current R35 GT-R. So it's not like this is really new in the automotive world.

My speed6 is limited to 149mph. And it gets there.
