I had a friend (I cut off contact because he was being a jerk) that grew up helping his parents run their Chinese restaurant. I'm sure money was tight through college.
He is now a Pharmacist making ~$90K. He would always criticize people we went to high school with for going to college and getting advanced degrees, but going into teaching, civil service or other relatively low-paying professions. He thought they were wasting the time they spent in school just because they don't make a big paycheck.
Another example: we would discuss the OJ case and he would say that Henry Lee is the better authority on whether forensic evidence is reliable because he makes millions of dollars. A police detective isn't to be believed over him because they make '$40 or $50K.'
What kind of elitist bullsh!t is this? He is not the only Asian with these attitudes, I have sensed them in many others that I have met.
EDIT: I don't want to stereotype every Asian, so I changed the title of the thread. I apologize.
