IMO, the kid's attitude has more to do with selective racism (muslims/arabs especially) and the hyper-patriotism that has become so "in" since September 11th...Since then, it's been OK to hate, bad-mouth, and even assault (Yes, people are taken to jail over that...but how many people are really going to call the cops if someone who looks "Middle Eastern" gets their a$$ beat?) individuals of arab/muslim descent. Not since before the Confederacy had the proverbial smackdown applied to their booties has this sort of thing been so sickeningly acceptable.
I can understand this sort of thing in a way...but it's a shame that people don't take an introspective peek and see that the real devils 'n' demons of this country are not those who bomb us - rather they are the ones who allow the war in Iraq and the whole Afghanistan deal go down. The real evil in this country starts with those who would willingly finance something that pointlessly kills civilians from both sides of the war and it goes all the way down to those of us who are willing to do a little gangland-style a$$-whooping on someone just becuase they look a certain way. Even though the war in Iraq did remove Hussein as a threat to the world, the whole thing was just little Dubya tryin' to one-up his good ole' Pappy while Afghanistan was more of a (to quote Ron White) "We'll kill you back" deal. American citizens were shocked and downright furious over Sept. 11th and were looking for someone, anyone, to blame. Bush gave them an entire race of people. Anyway...my point that I'm trying to make (in between ramblings) is that just because someone looks like the guys we saw on the news during the Sept. 11th fiasco, don't hate them. You might not trust them...hell you don't have to like them. But you should at least keep your *bleeping* mouth shut and go about your business.

Wow. I lived in Bahrain (tiny island in Persian Gulf) for the first 7 years of my life. Some of my best friends were Muslims, and they wouldn't harm a fly (certainly not terrorists). Things like this make me wish I was back there sometimes..
I go to high-school here in rural South Carolina. I don't throw around the fact I was born in the Middle East much, I've heard what they think of them. I'm not going to even bring the whole "War on Terrorism" and Iraq War into this. People need to grow up, start seeing through the fascia of race, and learn a valuable lesson.
I don't advocate violence against these kind of people (I like to think we've evolved beyond that), but those sorts of comments are just inexcusable.

Update: Today I was in the lunch line. The kid behind me said 'Ah, <expletive>. They jewed me out of my chocolate milk." :| I live in a really racist town.

Actually I made fun of a group of people singing about throwing me down a well, you frigging moron. I'd gladly deck anyone who I heard using the word "Jew" as a verb. It'll give the word an entirely new meaning for them. :|
