I actually just use one of those SATA adapters and put those in my unraid machine. But some of them are to small and are in fact worthless for anything other than testing.

I've got this 500GB Maxtor that just won't die for some reason.

I finally got around to chucking stuff out a few weeks ago

I was going through a stack of drives using usb dock to see what was on em and prep them for disposal

Finally came across an old external hard drive (120GB..living the dream!!). Considered upgrading the drive in it with one of the freshly wiped drives so I popped it open. Low and behold....the magic ribbon cable.
Gonna be fun going down memory lane (Resume from 1997? great success!!! Korn's Life is Peachy album in wav files....sweet!!).

Mine are running my media server and my CNC router and 3d printer. I don't need anything remotely modern for that.

LOL, I've got one of those too. It still works. Looks like one went just last month for about $70 bucks on ebay, which the same I paid for it from the same place I got it back in the 90s.

So did mine a year or so ago when I last tried it ... great card that hit the market a little bit too close to the release of Voodoo 2. I can't recall what I paid for it way back when but I thought it was more then $79... got mine directly from Canopus that I do recall.

Believe it or not, old 3dfx video cards are worth something as well. You can sell a 12 MB Voodoo 2 on eBay for about $100 now, more if you still have the box for it.

Speaking of boast from the past, I discovered I have a voodoo5 and a voodoo 2 sli set Amongst my shit. Considering eBaying them and using the funds for a series X.
