More expensive to hire a wrecker to haul em off to the junkyard then use em as a planter.............
I used to get letters from CA offering me $1000 for my 1983 station wagon, which I kept for those occasions when I needed to transport something home that I couldn't get in my sedan (it had more interior space and best of all, a roof rack). Eventually I took them up on it. The car was in decent mechanical condition, would sit back in my driveway. I'd take it for a spin occasionally to keep it in good condition. I finally realized that registering it, paying insurance for it, keeping it running (in time and money), was costing me more than it was worth and took it to the designated yard and got my $1000. I can rent a truck at Home Depot if need be... that isn't as convenient as having the station wagon there, but I've only done that once or twice. Most of the time I would use the wagon it WAS for a HD run. There's no reason I can't rent a HD truck and use it for a NON-HD purpose, AFAIK. There's UHaul, I guess, but I have never done business with them. Around here you don't see a lot of cars parked on people's lawns... I can't remember seeing one near where I live, it's probably a violation in my town.
