What's with Nissan's New Grill Design?

Look at the grill on the new Maxima, it ruins what would otherwise be a really cool car! I have only seen one on the road and they have been out for a while now. A simple $100-200 plastic grill is causing terrible sales. With an Altima-style grill that thing would sell so much better. It looks like they are carrying the design trend into their new cars as well, look at the Murano and the Quest.

Someone needs to have words with the design department at Nissan, they were on the right track for a while, but now they're f*ckin' up.

It seems to me like that can easily be changed. I didn't notice it myself, and have also seen only one on the road...

I think it works on the Murano because it's integrated a little better (and the car overall has a more "out-there" design).
But you're right, the "buck tooth" is horrendous on the Maxima (it's also used in the upcoming Sentra redesign).
I hope they come to their senses and drop it sooner rather than later.

A local Nissan dealership has an '04 Max with a custom grille, it looks 1000x better.

Any idea how much they are charging for the swap? 'Cuz I love the rest of the car, just can't live with the front end.

Dunno. I'll try and get a pic sometime if it's still out in front of the dealership (although it looked so much better they probably sold it already).
