<< One who is strongly partial to one's own group >>

Actually I'm more partial to Swedish. :p

Anyhoo... I know how my observation can be offensive to someone, let's say like a female Home Depot worker who is not a lebian.

Case and point: I just moved to a middle class neighborhood that has a large hispanic poulation. At chuch, a lady said to me, "you better learn some Spanish."

Why?

Is she saying that some of my neighbors may not speak English? Is there something wrong with a neighborhood that isn't all white? Never mind the fact that the neighborhood is middle class. That means we ALL must be doing SOMETHING right to not be living in an apartment or ghetto. White, Hispanic, or otherwise. If I was in a "Hispanic Community" then I would be a "minority" and I'm sure there would be some "reverse discrimination", but that's not what it is. It's a middle class nighborhood with a strong hispanic presence. So what?

Needless to say, the comment irked me a tad. So I know where a lot of the P.C. flinging is coming from. :p
