Nothing against lesbians or home improvement stores, but you have to admit that when you satep foot into a Home Depot or Lowes (at least here in Tampa) 90% of the women are as gay as a blue jay!

Rainbow stickers galore in the employee parking lot!

What's the attraction here?

I have nothing against lesbians. I am one. I just got stuck in this male body. I have no desire to make love to a man,yet I am obseesed with making love to beautiful women. That seems to be the only bad trait lesbians have, and that just doesn't seem to be so bad after all.

And yes,if they have a job and provide usefulness to society, then what would it matter what sexual preference one has?

Only simple minded bigots bring up topics like this.

Best to leave people be. They have harmed no one.

Pattysmear: Are you saying that "they" can't get a job anywhere else?

That's not very nice.

It can be hard, I know, but a sexual preference should NOT limit you to a particular place of work.

What I'm curious about is if it is a community thing (hey come to Lowes, I'll get you a job) or is it something just in Tampa because of our large gay community.

But job availability should not be limited to sexual preference. For example, this gay friend of mine works in a luggage store. One time some redneck came in looking for men's handbags (like a big wallet kind of thing. Hard to describe).

The man came in and said, "You got any of those i love you bags?" with a twangy white trash accent.

Man! I'll tell you what. I NEVER saw ANYONE turn so red in my life!!!!! He was PISSED.

Wonder if the redneck knew he was gay.... :(

Does this mean that he should NOT get a job in a luggage store because he would be the only gay man there?

Tripleshot: Just an observation.

I didn't know that being a lesbian made you under-qualified to sell lumber and plumbing supplies. Does that mean gay men can't sell paint?

And as always this is just MHO.

I think my point has been missed and is being confused for gay bashing. :(

This is certainly not so.

And Harrold: There's nothing about being a WOMAN that makes you underqualified, never mind a lesbian.

I know women who work in home improvement stores, and they are not gay. I just want to make a living like you and any other person.

Now that you mention it. Maybe lesbians are more apt to do home improvements? Given that, it may be a good place to meet other lesbians? I really have no idea.

lol, tripleshot!

:D

Actually, I bought my house from lesbians. (edit: These particular women are college professors and didn't know jack about home improvement, unfortunately. Thank goodness me and Mr Isla do... we got a great bargain!)

They truly are just like anyone else... they were together for 20 years, raised their kids together, and then one of them fell in love with a much younger woman. Old story told again and again, eh?

When we went to close on the house, I thought the new lover was the owner's daughter.

Que pena!

I don't know why it would seem many of the women working there are gay. It may be just chance, like one friend got a job there, brought in some other friends so that store you went now has alot of people from the same circle. Who knows?

Lemme guess - it must be the jeans, workboots, and flannel shirts that would only be logical to wear in a home improvement store where you get dirty and stuf... that must make any woman wearing that a lesbian.

Bignate: That's what I'm thinking. You've got a large gay population in Tampa. Friends tell friends to get a job at the Home Depot store. Then Lowe's opens up and likely hires AWAY FROM Home Depot (grass is always greener syndrome) and so on and so on. The gay community is very tight. Unlike the straight community. I keep trying to get MY friends to work where I work but they go off as far away as possible! :p

Patty: The guys that work at these stores are usually just JERKS (this explains the "Bad Boy" stickers).

One guy had the nerve to tell me that I could not by JUST THE VALVE for the water lead for my washer. BULL! I knew I could, I did and it worked! That night I looked all over the store for a MORE HELPFUL WOMAN. The MAN insisted on selling me an entire new faucet unit.

Ok, Thanks for clearing that up. I was confused. See I'm only 36 and work in entertainment. We don't understand these things.

Thanks for clearing that up too. I knew there had to be a place for 1000's of "jerks" to get jobs. Go figure, I thought they were all just people looking to make a living. I should have placed them in these categories years ago.

One can only wonder what the break room in that store must be like....:Q

Well, hey, it was time for someone to make a sexual comment about lesbians working in a tool store.

Harrold: If you're looking for me to be prejiduce against gays, you aint gonna get it from me. But if you want someone who's prejiduce against egotistical jerks, you've come to the right guy!

toolgirl: Yes. It's called the typical male ego. Something that makes me embarassed to be a man at times. Can't be wrong. Have to be right. No no no... you can't replace just the faucet. Pshh! Not that I don't do that sometimes, but I'm lucky enough to have a wife that points out to me when I'm being a "typical man". :p
