You need to get a small, Japanese passenger car with a 4-cyl engine, then put a big spoiler on it and put neon lights everywhere. Then people will want to race you.

even more what's with the acceptance? When I posted a race thread in January (and I was just a passenger!!!) I got blasted by almost every forum member here. Even though the race was between two pos cars, and one never broke the speed limit.

Yeah. Nobody wants to race me either. I drive a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan Sport. Fear of the ass-whoopin' I'd give 'em, I guess. ;)

In all of the states where I've taken a written test for a driver's license, racing, whether prearranged or spontaneous, is a minimal suspension of the driving license for a year. It's even illegal to loan your vehicle to another person for the intent of racing, and may result in the seizure of the vehicle in question.

But I drive a wimpy fuel-efficient Toyota Corolla, so this isn't really an issue to me.

3 people were killed, 7 badly injured here in Toronto last week by street racing.

Not one of the 3 killed, and only 1 of the 7 injured were actually racing (or even watching) - all were other people in thier cars, minding thier own business and not breaking the law (according to the police reports).

These deaths and injuries happened in 3 different races on different days.

Not one of the racing drivers was over 19 yrs old. All the racers involved drove 200+ hp cars.

The reason the racers gave for racing like that?

'The roads were pretty empty, we didn't think there would be other cars about'

These were city streets.

I'm not pointing at you chiwawa626, or anyone in particular. Just saying this to the general population:

If you race on public/open streets (as opposed to closed areas) you are risking innocent people's lives significantly. Your rights to race and have fun end where other people's rights to live and not get smashed in a car crash begin.
