Religion fascinates people plain and simple. And since there are no right answers the arguments can extend indefinitely which is a big plus for an open forum. Also, people enjoy luring others into sharing their beliefs. It validates them. Tolerance and acceptance of a myriad of viewpoints is going the way of the dinosaurs.

Political slant (why not): Or maybe it's because the heathen Clinton is out of power and folks really didn't feel all that great the past 8 years. Now Bush speaks of faith and values often and the massess are rushing to find out what all the fuss is about....or maybe NOT.

I'm fairly sure every generation of christian since the first century has hoped the Second Coming happens in their lifetime. Doom and Gloom is especially popular during century rollovers.

I hate to disappoint you but the odds of it happening in your lifetime is slim. Guess you'll just have to figure out how to enjoy life some other way..
