what's warmer?

i can get pretty warm under the covers with just our body heat warming each other up, even with room temp about 60F. just as long as neither of us lifts the comforter letting some cold air in.

regardless, i know which i prefer 😉

please, no smart remarks about being naked under the cover with my gf.
🙁

But which is hotter? 😉 haha

Um no.

There is a reason they tell you to huddle naked with someone if you're lost up in the mountains. It's warmer when you're naked.

LMK your average heat output in watts, as well as the thermal resistance of the layers of insulation, your body temperatures, plus the temp of the room and I'll tell you how much heat you're going to lose. 😛

Yeah, because it's a better news story if they find two corpses naked and huddled together. 😛

Huddling together while sharing one airspace within an insulated covering would be ideal.

Over time I would think "with clothes". For instant heat, thermal transfer should work better with direct skin to skin contact.

I'd go with nekkid.

Naked only helps with heat transfer. If you are both warm to start with, then keep the clothes and covers on and stay together. If one of you is really cold, then naked and cuddling will warm the other person up with the fastest rate, then put the clothes on to keep the heat close to the bodies.

This is a simple heat transfer problem with insulation. Ah, the practicality of my chemical engineering degree to solve life's everyday problems 🙂

I like the S.O. option because 9 times out of 10, you start out naked and cold, work out for a bit then get warmer, get really warm, get hot, sizzling, bacon, sexplosion, sleep.

IMO, better than sitting in your clothes.

I think the fastest way would be to be naked under the blankets with a fat naked person since fat people generate more heat.

'even with room temp about 60f'?

I turn the heat off when I go to bed, and I'm plenty warm- thermostat is usually pegged at 60 (as low as it reads) when I get up. Maybe you need a better blanket. 😛

Flannel sheets FTW.

Who specifically told you that, someone from SAR or the Mountaineers? I really doubt that you'd want to do that instead of keeping your warm clothes on.

Uhm, pretty much every survival class I've taken has specifically stated the quickest way to warm someone up is to remove all articles of clothing and share airspace, either in a sleeping bag or under a tarp.

Send me a pic, and then I'll let you know if I prefer to be fully clothed, or nekked under the covers with your SO.

I'd go with nekkid.

Especially if internal body heat is utilized.
