What's up with this?!

When selecting which slots on my Asus A7V motherboard to insert my Network PCI card and my SB Platinum PCI card I took care not to (according to the Asus manual anyway) insert them into any "shared" slots so each would have its own IRQ (I did take into account the integrated components, etc.).

Take a look at the screen shot below. According to Windows, everything from the ATI Radeon to the USB controller to the Sound card and Network card are all using the same IRQ! Could this be leading to a performance reduction?

What else bothers me:

I'm unable to enable DMA on my Plextor CDR drive or my Pioneer DVD drive...

My computer doesn't turn itself off, it just sits there with the old Win screen telling you to shut off your computer and I have to hold the power button down for 4 seconds...

It looks like you have SB16 emulation on its own IRQ, which you can actually disable (unless of course you play old DOS games...) - disable it in device manager (don't remove though) - this should free up one in case you ever do get some conflicts

no conflicts... just wondered why Windows pilled everything up on one IRQ and wondered if this would cause me any performance problems.

ME did the same thing to me until I wiped out the OS and reloaded with all my cards installed.

After that everything was pretty well spread out. It still has my AIW Radeon sharing the USBs on IRQ14, but the other cards are all unique: Adaptec 29160 SCSI controller, Tekram 315u SCSI controller, Ensoniq sound, 3com905c NIC.

I don't have nearly as much stuff as you do, but some share IRQs, and on ME that seems to be a bug in the way it displays, different people are getting a lot or a little on one IRQ. As long as you have no conflicts, it doesn't look like a problem. *Sigh* I'd like my Radeon 32mb DDR (won from contest) to be on there, but it sucks not being able to afford to upgrade..

Someone else just posted that DMA wouldn't work on their Plextor either. No offense, but you really don't need DMA on those things

Have you tried setting up the drive through your BIOS and switching between slave and master?

Sorry if this was already said (trying to get to bed..), but the way to fix the power issue:

Goto start>control panel>power management. Make sure ACPI is enabled. If that doesn't help reboot and get into your BIOS and got Power Management and make sure ACPI is enabled there too. Hope this helps..

SerraYX - DVD's are choppy on the Pioneer without DMA. I got it working before I reformated... Can't remember how. lol

SiliconVandal - I don't see any option like that. The closest option is asking you what action the computer will take when you press the power button. Interestingly though the computer did turn itself off the very first time I shut the computer down using WinME...

Make sure that your Bios is set to PLUG AND PLAY OS...OFF
Don't let windows set the IRQs. Then you might be able to shuffle the IRQs in device manager or in the bios. You can set the IRQ individualy for any of the PCI slots in the Bios.
