What's up with this daylight savings crap?

I've been living in Indiana since I can remember. Aparently, Indiana could possibly adopt daylight savings time. What the heck is this daylight savings crap? Turning clocks back and forth, HUH!?!? It sounds scary and confusing 🙁 I'd rather stay with switching between eastern and central time zones so I don't have to adjust my darn clocks. Everyone but Hoosiers and people from Arizona and Hawaii is crazy.

DST is pretty worthless, but look on the bright side, you get an extra hour of daylight after work during the summer...

For some the work day starts at 6 am and by having DST you interrupt the schedule by not having light at the start of the day.

Hard to farm in the dark.
 
^ interesting about the farming... by why do we revolve around them ? I think we have to keep schedules more than they do... why can't they just get up later when the sun actually rises... I'm sure the cows and roosters tell time by the sun anyway... 😉

circadian (sp?) clock is pretty dang powerful. I mean who wants to be working at 8:00 at night?

No, I prefer to stay in this hick farming state 😛 I mean, there's so much to see here, who doesn't love acres upon acres of corn fields?

Seriously though, I moved to IN when I was three and lived here ever since, though I do travel very frequently. I've never actually experienced changing the clocks during DST, though I do actually know what it is and how it works.
 
I live in Evansville, IN (South-western tip of the state), and we have had DST for as long as I can remember. I think we are the only part of the state to do so. We are also in the Central time zone.
 
won't you notice DST has occured when you keep on missing a Pacers or Colts game? It'll be like, WTF??? it's halftime already!?!? Unless you hunt and gather so much, you don't own a hdtv 🙂

wtf, not even 50% of the nation has HDtv...

but yes, its weird being here w/o DST, im from ohio where we are normal, and i flip timezones and its weird because like one day i could call my rents at 9pm and its 9pm there, and the next day i call at 9 pm and its 10pm there, and there in bed or something, so strange.

No, the NW corner also has been on DST since the 40's or 50's in order to keep in sync with Chicago.
 
I moved here (IN) from Michigan last summer for school, and it's really annoying that's it's light out at 5:30am and dark by 7:00pm. There's an article in the Indy Star from a few days ago wherein some legislator is quoted as saying something along the lines of, 'If we go to DST, there will be one hour less sunlight per day for growing crops.'
 
I think every one should be on one clock regardless of location. Sorta like GMT, but since the east coast is the center of everything in the world, we should be the standard.
 
I love DST. It's light when I leave for work and when I get home at the peak of the summer I get hours of light to work in the yard or do whatever.
