What's up with the domestic rice?

Yeah, that's right, I'm talking about your skanky ford mustangs & your dodge stealths/mitsu 3000gt's with the *fake* air scoops on the hood/sides.

Talk about rice, and straight from the factory no less. Am I the only one who thinks this stuff looks lame?

I have to get a dig cam for threads like this. I saw a new mustang the other day with: big-ass wing (like....12" off the back deck big), big red "R" badge on both the rear and sides underneath the "GT" badge, various horse-power-adding stickers (NOS, Mugen, etc), "TYPE-R" shade across the top of the windshield, etc. I totally lost it laughing...such a shame to bastardize an otherwise decent car...

Damn what is up with everyone on this board? "Rice this, ricer that"
Who cares? If someone chooses to do something to their car, it's their own business
It's their personal preference.... wouldn't you just love it if someone started criticizing you?
Geez.. if you don't have something nice to say... shut your mouth

lol, rate me a 1 😀

Um...true, they can do whatever they want. It's their car.

But it still looks completely stupid.😛

I had a good laugh with the parts manager at my local Honda dealership talking about ricers 🙂

Anyway, it's our personal preference to make fun of such foolishness.

Besides--if everyone who didn't have anything nice to say kept it to themselves, this forum would quickly die 🙂

The thing is, I don't mind mods that look nice and have some affect on improving the car's functionality. Even new lights do this - I like the clear lenses with red inside (not the clear-clear ones, those are pretty lame).

But most of the time we hear people complaining about the japanese rice, where there are mods that don't do anything. So I bring up the fact that these other "muscle" cars have the same stupid crap - straight from the factory. Why do you want a scoop on the hood when it's just a honeycomb impressed peice of plastic or scoops on the sides that are just plastic little cups?

Guys, would this be rice:
86 Pontiac Parisienne, rear is slightly sagging, and will sag even more when I redo the stereo install in the trunk (more wood, heavier, rear end will sag a bit more), so to correct it (and help handling a *bit*), I'll just grab a pair of $20 spring compressors and use them to lower the front about an inch, no more.

Otherwise the car will be deep jet black, tint, nothing else really. No wing 😉

Rice or not?

they're free to do wahtever they watn to their car, just like we're free to rag them for it

people criticize me all the time, i could care less, and that's obviously what ricers think too

Exactly. I personally LIKE the way many riced out cars look, I'd be doin it to my car if I had the money. There would be differences though. I would get a decent looking wing kit, not a 12-24" one, I was thinking maybe about 3-4 inches or so. A ground kit would be nice, as well as some better rims. I wouldn't mind upping the turbo on my car from a 16lb/in2 to a 32, and adding in a few performance parts.

The sound system would be custom built by me... I am 100% an audiophile (for car systems at least)

Some things I would not do:
- Add any kind of "type R" sticker
- Add any japanese symbol onto the rear windshield
- Add a NOS sticker UNLESS I got NOS in the car
- Add more than 1 sticker in the first place to the car
- Get neon yellow/orange/green seats (although better seats would be nice)

Basically if I riced out my Eclipse... it would be because the car actually WAS a performance vehicle. Like I said, I like the way some of them look (ones that are designed well, not just to get your attention until you start laughing)

And it would look good, not tacky

But then again, I'm poor so I'll have to wait till someday in the future

If you are going to do that to your car, atleast back it up with some power. I personally hate NOS, but if you have the damn sticker on your car, you beter be packin'. I wish I could just run over some of these stupid little cars. When I get some real money, look for me to do that 🙂

Sweet.

No way man, you gotta get the tiny gold rims with the whitewall tires...then extend the shock arms/axels out a few inches on each side!
