What's Up With Spam ----?

Many of you probably have some sort anti-spam software on your macnines. I'm using spam killer from McAfee and have it set to review the stopped mail before I delete it in case something legitimate gets zapped. Here's my question - what the heck is in it for the folks who send this crap out? They use legitimate from names as first entre into your mail box so you have to find another avenue to stop them. Now I find they are actually encrypting their messages to prevent your stopping them on subject matter or message body. Why do they go to so much trouble to send you something you don't want? Are they paid by the messages sent? Why would you persist in sending something where it is not wanted? Are there enough people out there with no spam stoppers that will actually fall for the crap they are trying to sell that they make a profit from those folks?

Help me out - I don't understand what motivates spammers.

if only 1 in 10,000 or 1 in 100,000 idiots respond/send money to a spammer, they are making money

some people answer spam , that is why they do it

We were having a similar discussion in our office...basically saying "If someone goes to so much trouble to block spam, then why do they try and get around it....they clearly don't wanna receive it!" and as someone rightly pointed out "There will be instances where the person who put the Anti-spam software in place is not the target such as in large corportations".

If Junk Mail is still surviving then Spam will too....the costs are much lower. But yes, it's very annoying.

I'm so sick of this crap, I get 100-200 piece of junk daily. Since my company has been thru 3 merger, I have 2 older email addresses that's getting spammed and being forwarded to my new email address....

And what's with the trend? I used to get "enlarge your weiner" spam, now it's "get your painkiller sent to your home" crap.... Is the society turning into a pill popping one?

What's in it for the spammers?

Duh... money.

They can send out millions of emails for (essentially) free. If only a tiny fraction of the people they send to respond (and yes, a tiny fraction DO respond), they make money.

The solution to spam is for no one to ever respond to those emails. That's not going to happen any time soon, unfortunately.

I don't understand what's the big deal with extra engorged member. Average size is good enough 🙂
