Looks like an attempt at a twitter novel or short story. If anybody can do it, Norm McDonald sure as fuck can.

I've actually started using twitter, I find it to be the "perfect" social media. I can follow what I like and what I don't like and I get to send messages to people I would never normally be able to contact. I don't really care if the messages actually get read, just that I can "get my voice out". Plus I can talk all sorts of shit in public, with my name, it's wonderful.

Ditto. If I actually cared what celebrities did I'd have started reading Enquirer back in 1985.

Wow, you guy's elitism has hit awesome levels.

You do know that Twitter is more than celebs posting what they're eating for lunch, right?

Since everything you just wrote is completely wrong, I feel no need to respond properly.

Let me edumacate you grandpa:

Twitter is ALSO used to tech support, news, product launches...and you can even score exclusive deals from manufacturers. If someone mentions our company name, we pick it up and we can respond to them. I often get free stuff from local restaurants for responding to their Tweets. I get inside info on projects and events I'm interested in (especially in music).

So...yeah...continue sitting there with your huge tower PC running Windows XP and Sony Trinitron monitor because there is never a better way to do anything.

Sooo..what you basically said is it's just another gimmick marketing tool. I thought you were trying to sell people on it? I guess those of us who don't use it just don't feel the need to know every little detail some company or person trying to sell something is doing. Sorry we're not contributing to the fleecing of the people.

I'm sure there are great uses that some people think they need it for, but it doesn't mean everyone needs or wants it. It has nothing to do with being stuck in the dark ages.

Uh, no.

It's there for entertainment, news, support...

Wil Wheaton is pretty cool and posts a lot about homebrewing beer.

DadBoner is fictional, but it's purely entertainment - sort of like Married With Children ('cept he's separated...)

I follow some sports teams to get updates on scores, trades, playoff schedules

There are also a few completely random average joes I follow just because they post interesting things sometimes

I have a few physics accounts I follow too

BreakingNews is a news feed... same with the new york times, bbc, cbc, and reuters...

None of that is trying to sell me things

I like to follow Jeremy Clarkson- he mentions the stuff he's doing while filming the new series of Top Gear.

Conan is a good one to follow
https://twitter.com/ConanOBrien

He usually only tweets breaking news:

I am sad to report that @Andy_Richter has…oops, false alarm, he’s up. Guess that was just a really long nap near a bloodstain.
