Whats up with my Radeon??

I have a Radeon32DDR running under Windows 98SE with the 7078 drivers and i'm getting really weird frame rates on quake3. I get about 50fps on resolutions like 1024X768 and 800X600 and about 33fps on 1600X1200. That seems really weird that my low resolutions are getting that low of a frame rate and my high resolution is getting such a high frame rate.

Heres my system:
466 celeron
128mb pc100
10gig maxtor 5400rpm

The reason for this is you are fairly CPU limited. I remember when I had my 300 K6-2, and EVERY resolution ran at the same framerate. Your CPU can't push the frames fast enough 🙂.

Yea, but how can i get 33fps at 1600X1200 on my system and the other resolutions i get so low fps. 33fps at 1600X1200 is what Anandtech gets with 1100 T-Bird system. How come i can get that?

The slower your CPU, the higher the resolution you can run before your video card becomes the bottleneck. From what you say, at 800 x 600 and 1024 x 768 you get identical framerates so your CPU is the culprit. At 1600 x 1200 you're video card limited so naturally your framerates drop. Once you're video card limited it makes no difference what speed CPU you're using.
