Before they used to have the ads in the respective departments. Then they started posting the ads outside on a display board. They took that down and then moved them to an obscure corner in the store so no one would look at them. Now they've even taken the product signs for the advertised merchandise in the departments so no one would buy the deals advertised.
If you shop at Frys you know that pretty much anything that is not advertised isnt a deal except in rare situations. Each time I've gone to Frys lately to look at a certain motherboard/cpu combo that was advertised in the newspaper, I've been asked to upgrade based on the 'Recommended Value' signs. When I asked one of the sales guys there what the current special was on AMD combo's, he omitted telling me about the advertised special and referred to the 'Recommended Values'. I asked him why they did not put the signage up for the advertised items and they said they didnt have the space to put them up. What crap!
The above is true for most of the bay area stores that I go to. I'm sure thats part of the company policy now for upselling products to customers using the same ol bait and switch routine.
