Whats up with Flickerdown?

I emailed them to add me to their waiting list for opteron 146's,
and they never replied, never added me to list, and Sellman has been the last person on the list for a few weeks.

are they still selling opterons? What has been your guys' experiences

I've already gotten a 144 from Dave, and I've written to him several times. I even talked with him to add myself into the 146 queue. He just hasn't updated his queue list, is all, but he should be responding to you, as long as you are letting him know who you are and that you are interested in an Opteron.

yah I gave him all the info, in the format he requested and everything.
still no reply.
I'm patient though.

how long have u been waiting timberwolves fan?

FYI - I think Dave's pretty busy guys and he is getting quite a few e-mails from what I have read.

I tried to get into the original queue for a 146 about month or so ago. I sent 3 emails using the specified format and I heard nothing. 🙁

I put in an order for a 146 on Dec. 14th. I have never been added to the queue on his webpage though. I did get a PM from him about a week ago and he said he was really busy and had not updated the webpage queue in a while. I would guess the queue atleast for the 146 is pretty long since I know it has not been update since Dec. 14th.

He has the cheapest prices anywhere, so thats probably one of the reasons. I bought a 148 off him, was quick and everything. Hes probably just busy.

Also, you should know, you HAVE to subscribe to his newsletter to get on queue for 144/146's now. Read here--->http://flickerdown.com/procedures.htm

Dave is quite busy, not able to answer all e-mails! If you just send in an order... chances are you won't hear from him till he has stock to cover your order.

For 144/146 perspective buyers, make sure you sign up for the newsletter, and also include the additional requests for the processors, or he won't be able to fulfill the order (He won't degragate his contact at AMD, this is AMD's requirement, not his!).

Last I knew, Dave is not making any appreciable profit on these ventures, it is for his love of the platform, and helping fellow enthusiats! Therefore, support him, but follow the directions! Check his website for updates weekly...

what do you mean by "include additional requests for the processors"? do you mean to send multiple emails? i just sent one email.
yah i signed up for the newletter when i ordered.

Just got my 165 from Dave today

Be patient.....selling sometimes hard-to-get CPUs to a bunch of Opteron-crazed overclockers has got to be a pain in the ass!

Re: the newsletter

The document says that these are 'new' ordering procedures and 'all prior queue entries will be honored'. Does anyone know prior to when? Since the queue is not updated, I am not sure if my order, originally entered Dec. 16 2005, will be good or should I re-enter my order after subscribing to the letter?

I ordered a 146 tray on Dec. 14th and subscribed to the newsletter a few days ago. They only think I have heard from him is he is very busy and that the queue has not been updated in a very long time. I am assuming he has my order. How about everyone that has ordered a cpu from him post the date they order, what cpu, and when they got it if they did. We could make our on anandtech member queue here.

wow...i guess i'm popular 'round these parts!

so, you want to know the scoop on everything? here we go.

1.) I was banned on HardForum for a post entitled "Food for thought" which asked about the potential for pre-testing cpus. i had previously been warned by Kyle and Lethal that i was "selling" within these threads and to knock it off. I guess my "food for thought" thread (even though it wasn't a direct sales thread) didn't count and, well...I got kicked for 30 days. Not happy about that, but, I'm still subject to the rules of that forum and I will abide by them. NOTE: i've received a much warmer reception from Anandtech, 2cpu, Overclockers, and ExtremeOverclocking forums (kudos to Jason @ EOC for the "Corporate Rep" title).

i hear you. Problem with the 144/146 proc. is that AMD has clamped down on them so much that it's a push to get them to me in the first place. several other smallish resellers have told me stories of their 144/146 orders not getting fulfilled at all, so....I count myself lucky to get through the door. That being said, my queue system was originally intended to help me out with organization. What happened though was that I literally got flooded with email for those two processors and couldn't keep up with the demand. I have a wife and a child, some marital issues going on, and well, a day job that keeps me very, very busy.

the earliest queue entries i have (which are basically all the emails i've ever received since november) are from mid-november. The new ordering procedures are implemented as of 1/9/06 since i've gotta kick this thing in the ass. basically, if you sent an email, i got it, put you in my 144/146 folder, and haven't gotten back there since. However, i've got 16 parts (8x144/8x146) coming in from AMD-Singapore by next week, so i'll be hitting the early guys.

"AkumaX"
damn it, i wanted a 165 from him...
i can get these parts (tray, especially) way faster. Matter of fact, i've got another slug of 170/165/175 orders going in next week.

suprisingly enough, i've only received one "hate mail" from a guy who accused me of not appreciating the fact that he wanted to buy a processor. I don't know what to say because i'm trying my hardest to get this stuff out, i'm helping out a lot of international folks, and am helping some of your favourite resellers (tankguys, in particular) with getting parts to you. So, i'm kinda like a mini-distributor, reseller, social worker all in one...(and a terrible web designer...anyone wanna help? LOL!)

"peleejosh"
why was he temp banned from Hardforum ?
see my first paragraph!

the only processor i'm making money on right now is the 165. and i'm getting roughly 6.00 per processor. on 144/146s, i'm going in the hole by about 3-4 per part and well, that's the story. i AM doing this for the love of the game. that being said, i've also got a family to feed so, i'm prolly going to continue adjusting prices by small amounts (no whopping 100.00 overages like Newegg.)

"Greenman"
I got tired of waiting and picked one up elsewhere, paid $30 more, and worth it.
Awesome! the whole reason why i don't normally request money ahead of time is that i WANT you to be free to get your parts elsewhere. all i have to offer is good pricing, quick shipping, and friendly interactions. (same for Tankguys). that's it. nothing more, nothing less....I'm just ONE freakin' person, remember, so, please be patient.

"themusgrat"
Prices are great. I also sent an email for 2 144s on Dec. 20th, and haven't heard back at all.
as i've stated before, every email i get is read, but not necessarily replied to. I'm hoping the newsletter approach will increase communication. I've also tossed some pre/post sales forums online in an effort to give me adequate time to respond to people.

any other questions, hit me up...more than happy to answer!
