I call it a ... *gasp* MISTAKE! Sure, they made a mistake, even if it increases shipping time that much, that will happen with every company, let it be

That's funny. I thought I was the only one. I ordered a 9100 laptop from them on the 8th of this month.
They first told me it would ship on the 22th. Now they're saying it's not going to ship til the 12th of April!
That's crazy.

And you're right about the customer support. I still haven't recieved an answer to my e-mail I sent them on the 9th.

This is my first time with Dell, and now I don't know what to think.

I spoke to the Dell Rep and she said that the delays are due to a problem with the battery. This is for the APAC region though.

If they would actually HIRE people instead of cycling in/out contractors, they would be a much better company. As for now, being a contractor there sucks, as they are only using people and not making them perm.

Offshore support you can't understand.

Powersupplies that go out by the dozen

If you have a GX1 3 of 4 times your DVD player can't read burned disks and the drive is on it's way out anyway

GX150 has a bad issues with the 3Com 3C920 built onto it

All the proprietary $H!t inside

We changed over to Gateway as we get an American on the other line for support and purchase (in our case from 1 mile down the road) and you don't have to try the most basic monkey BS before they accept that it's broke. "The power supply is broken the motherfugger is on fire" - "Well sir have you tried geing into the BIOS and checking the voltage"

You open the case and it's an Intel brand motherboard that is standard ATX so not only is every other part non-proprietary but so is the mobo so you are not spending $160 for an old outdated P3 mobo for a GX 110 :|

werd. Gateway's aren't great either but their Tech support >>>>>>>> Bubba Smith's PC Shop>>>>>dog poo >>>>> Dells.

Funny, Gateway outsources tech support to Convergys. Convergys has a huge operation in India now.

Yeah, thats pretty much it. I don't buy from any big box manufactorer...but if you want to have a chance in hell of upgrading, Gateway is definately the best of them.

My Dell problems: 1. I order 10 systems through their reseller division and my rep cancels them because the price is too low and gives me a quote for 200 bucks more and says he put the order through without my approval. Those 10 systems would have made me 150 each.

2. My rep goes and places a 5 system order without rebates although it was in the quote I sent him. I don't notice until I get the packing slip to go fill out the rebates and notice it's not on there. There's nothing they can do about it. If I want to return them it's a 15% restockign fee. So basically, he cost me another 1k there.

3. I wait on hold for 25 minutes...I was on a cell phone and the guy accidentally hangs up on me. Call up another 20 minutes and then they tell me they can't refund about 2k worth of tax because the accounts I used were "personal" and placed under Dell home. I then go and tell them that Dell Home doens't charge tax in my state so the orders -WERE- placed under small business. The lady insists I placed the order in their home department even though I know where I placed these orders.

4. I ordered 10 systems online once and they both got canceled because if you don't go through their reseller division there's a limit of 5 systems per week. 1k of lost revenue.

5. My rep says he got my sales tax certificate into their tax department and that they were just backlogged. Well I got sick of his crap so I went and called them up myself and they told me he never sent them my documents. I fax it to them and I get credits 3 days later...backlogged my a$$.

6. He refused to apply my amex discount to an order costing me 5% of 15k. I bought those systems anyways. 750.00 of lost revenue.

7. Another rep wouldn't apply a coupon to an order saying it couldn't be combined with a rebate when the coupons terms were rebates must be postmarked within 30 days clearly implying that rebates aren't "other discounts" that aren't combineable with the coupon. 1k in lost revenue.

I've spent 30k in a month with this guy and he's still trying to fvck me. This is the 3rd Dell rep I've been through. I'm trying to find another one now...

Most of this is in the past 3 weeks alone..sh1t like this always happens with Dell. Most of their reps are incompetent...

Summary of amount of money Dell has cost me: 7k in about 3 weeks. This doesn't count the countless hours I have to sit on hold with them.

In conclusion Dell makes me want to jump off buildings...
