Because people are so empty that they'll pour hard-earned money into INSANELY overpriced goods. Why? To attract other shallow people who will look at that as something positive. It's HEEEElarious. Manhattan is a fugging circus with all these types.

It's so expensive because they can charge that much and people will still buy it.

If you made a purse that cost you $50 to make, would you rather sell it for $100 or $500, if people would buy them at both prices?

People who have that much money can afford to spend a lot of money on apparel and do. I mean, if you owned a Porsche, Ferrarri, M5, and lived in a 20-room mansion, would you still go to Old Navy or would you go to Bloomingdales?

Status. To show the world that you have enough disposable cash to afford expensive stuff and to differentiate yourself from other lesser beings.

I can't see myself EVER paying that much for clothing/accessories. Not when I know I can get a basically identical item, sans label, for far less.
But then, what drew me to the AT Forums was Hot Deals :)

if you have the money, why not? Some of those clothes are cool but I don't get into that stuff when I can go to TJ Max and get cool stuff for 10 bucks:)

I'm amazed how many people bash expensive things around here. Sometimes is not about being shallow and any of that crap.

I have a Coach wallet. I paid $70 for it. I bought because is good leather, and its made to last. I've had it for 2 years and not a scratch on it.....find a $10 wallet that will last 5years.....

I have a $10 wallet that has lasted 5+ years. Your point is BS.

By they way, I like to go into these overpriced stores and fart on the clothes. Hell, I'd crap in their expensive bags if I could get away with it.

Rich people that buy stupid crap with their money are just aholes. Like Ben Afleck and his friggin $100k+ toilet seet he bought for that fatass J-Ho. Like she REALLY needs a friggin jewel encrusted crapper seat? Dumbasses.

jeez, you all act like expensive things are the devil.

Why did I spend the extra money to get a Pentium 4 and o/c it to 2.75ghz if all i do is play counterstrike? Why did I spend $500 on a 20gb iPod instead of $250 on a 20gb Nomad Zen?

Don't tell me that everybody in here hasn't done stuff like this. (i.e. Intel over AMD when AMD gets the job done at a cheaper price, Sony monitor instead of XYZ company, etc.

Do I really need 2.75ghz to read e-mail and play CS? nope, a 1ghz should do fine - both do the same job, just like your paper bag and gucci.

Exactly! The overpriced BS name brands are bought by vapid mouth breathers that want to impress other vapid mouth breathers with how much money they spent. It only matters to them. Hey, it's their money and their right to spend it how they wish. But it's also MY right to make fun of them for doing so.

Hm, so while you go into your desk job with your "livable" house and "driveable" car, I'll be sure to cruise on by with my Porsche to take you over to my 20-room mansion. Captalism rules humanity; wanting better drives the economy.

I like my "liveable" house and my "driveable" car. They suit me fine and I am comfortable with them. I caould piss my money away on status sysmbols, but I have nothing to prove to anyone by doing so. I don't feel the need to compensate for some type of shortcoming by being extravagant and flashy. Pompousness is not in my character. It may suit some people, but not me. Enjoy your "Porch", and try not to get lost in your 20 room mansion.

your 2.75 ghz machine will play CS with much better FPS at higher resolutions, especially if you want to take it further and compare broadband to dialup internet. greater FPS = greater performance, regardless of whether your puny little brain can perceive the difference.

Actually, all three brands aren't what they used to be. All three have made considerable downmarket moves to broaden their customer base. By doing so, they aren't as in favor by the uber rich as they used to be.

But out of the three, Coach makes the highest quality product. My GF favors Coach handbags, and I can't argue with her after checking out the quality of their leather work.
