I am not putting NASCAR fans down in any way. I love racing myself but why do they have this insane coverage?

Nothing like this when it comes to F1, CART, IRL, NHRA , WRC...... and so on.

Isn't Nascar a lot more popular than any of the other circuits (correct word?) that you listed? At least in the United States?

Well, yeah that is true but why do they air the same show over and over again.
At the moment, 7.43PM Mountain time, they are showing the 2'nd rerun. That is show number 3.

itsa result of fox buying speedvision. they renamed it speed channel and just want to tap into the hicks of america. yes im saying th majority of ascar fans are hicks. its a fact. its also 500 left hand circles with people waiting for a crash.

the "F1, CART, IRL, NHRA , WRC...... and so on. " is what i watch speed for. you can't beat it. its real racing.

They show reruns of all those other series too. All cable channels show reruns.

When Fox took over, they said this would not happen. Of course they lied. Anyway, NASCAR is what they want you to have, and that is what you are going to get.

Why? Only hicks make spelling errors?
[stupid southern accent]I would like to thank the brilliant mechanical engineers that designed my car, who probably aren't making near as much as my stupid hick ass, when all I do is drive my car around in a circle a few hundred times.

No, but generally when someone calls someone else a hick, they're implying that the person isn't all that intelligent. Again, I'm not saying that "hicks" aren't intelligent, only that people who use the word usually don't mean it in the nicest of terms.

Yeah, I miss that too. Now it seems like 50% NASCAR at a minimum on any given day. I've become a big F1 fan in the last year, and I wish they'd show a few classic F1 races after they get done showing the 1980 Daytona freakin' 500. Although apparently they will be showing some classics over the summer, on off-race weekends if I remember correctly.

That said, NASCAR is clearly what pays the bills for Speed, and if they are going to show F1, a lot of CART, ALMS, and even ETCC, DTM, etc. in the winter, well then I can live with it. It's not the kind of channel you can just sort of flip to and see what's on anymore ("NASCAR Tech" - wtf?!) but they do a good job with the 'real' racing when they have a chance.

By the way, if you're an American F1 fan, the Speed forums are a decent place to go for people with similar perspectives. The European F1 forums are fun too but it's nice to talk with Americans too.
