I just built my first AMD system (Thunderbird 1.33 and an Asus A7V-133) and I didn't have to do anything to get it to run stable. So far it's running great and all I did was slap the parts in and load up Win2K.

I hear ya joohang. It seems like alot of people bash intel just because it's the cool thing to do. Same thing with microsoft. People just seem to hate whatever company is at the top (or makes a freakish load of money). I'll agree that Intel has had some pretty major screw-ups lately (partnering with rambus, rushing out the p3 1.13 ghz, devoting way more time and resources to SSE2 instead of the FPU for the P4, etc..) but that doesn't mean that the company is a total joke.

For what it's worth, I've built both AMD and Intel systems and I've consistently had more problems with the AMD systems than the Intel systems. I know that AMD didn't make the chipset in some of the systems, but the ones that were using the Irongate chipset were utter garbage. I had constant problems with those systems and there's no amount of bios updating/tweaking, or driver updating that will get those systems running "normal".

Oh well, I just hope that Intel gets their act together real quick because I don't want to go down the AMD route again whenever it comes time for me to upgrade.

That's interesting.

Both of my AMD systems installed without problems, except for my experience with a defective MSI K7T Pro2-A. The replacement worked without trouble.

My experience with both Intel and AMD systems have been very good. Maybe it's because I don't bother to "tweak" my system? I run my memory at CAS3 and all I care about is the heat output and noise level of my system.

Hopefully none of you are referring to "overclocked stability."

If I hear any of the following "cool" phrases (or similar) in the office, I will go postal.

"Intel Sucks"
"Linux Rules"
"Bill Gates Sucks"
"I Want To Be A MCSE"
"We should get DSL because it's faster than T1"
"Dell Rules"

It took a little tweaking to get my SBLive to work with my MSI K7T-Pro2A and all the Via patches into place.

They got patches for your Whipped Boyfriend OS? :)

Another favorite is:

"It's Microsoft"

and the problem turns out to be some hardware failure.
