I remember when Abit was the motherboard everyone was raving about, mostly because of its overclocking capabilities, but now its all ASUS and ePox and MSI. What happened?

What do YOU think happened?

Didn't MSI,EpOx, Asus notice that Hardware sites were raving about how cool ABiT boards were, giving 9/10 scores or 4 STars. I mean it does kind of give you a good name and wide representation. I mean RAID was not possible on any other boards on KT133A, only on Abits. With HDD's drives so cheap people gobbled it up, and bought an Abit board with RAID to have "fun" I guess.

MSI, Asus, Epox just took Abits idea and used it to their advantage with the same if not MORE features. QUality doesn't matter, 212FSB and an overclocked Athlon CPU does. Gigabyte got into the act also (personally I wouldnt pay a DIME for a single craptacular Gigabyte board, I'd rather have a PC Chips than Gigabyte) I personally choose Asus, but am getting a KR7A Raid 133 soon. I want to branch out :) This is a market pattern that looks to stay alive for quite a bit, no more cheap AMR CNR slots Asus, Epox used to give, now its all clean cut and to the point. I like it. Thats why Abit went to the "MAX" with the legacy free boards. They are changing the market once again, and if its a financial success Asus, Epox, etc will soon to follow. Newer technology is the happening man, get with the times brodude... narley.

ABIT still makes great boards, KR7, NV7, and KX333 for AMD CPUs, and BD7, SD7, and TH7II for Intel CPUs. But because there are more competition now, and companies like EPoX and MSI have produced some great boards, they are eating into ABIT marketshare.
