Whats up with Abit?

I just browsed around Newegg and noticed that prices for their AMD mobos have dropped a lot. KR7A's (KT266A), KX7's(KT333), all are under $100. Only the KX7333-RAID (at $108) and their latest, legacy-free mobos (AT7's at $123-152) are above $100. Heck, KG7's are $67 (and I bought mine at $130-ish). Their nvidia-based mobos'a re also under $100.

They are using even cheaper parts now? Maybe all those $25 RMA fees they have collected over the years have allowed them to cut prices? 😉 😛

The TH7-II has also dropped to $122. Either NewEgg's overstocked on those boards, Abit has discontinued those boards or I can't think of anything else 🙂.

talking about the Abit TH7-II Raid, I orignally paid $164. I switched back to AMD, I had to sell for less than the $122 price tag on Newegg, I sold it today for $100. Sucks to loose $64 on board that I used for 2 weeks!

Dang I missed it.. 😉

But has Abit's quality slipped(again)? I haven't heard anything recently about problems in their current line-up. Abit and Asus used to be the top$$ mobo makers. Asus prices has dropped recently but not as much.

I dont know, I havent been hearing their name tossed around nearly as much as I used to... kinda looks like MSI and Gigabyte and Epox are stepping up to the plate.... I used to buy all abit but I always had problems... still do... they just always seemed buggy to me. But I love Asus...
