whats those things on the telephone lines....?

every 2 miles or so, i see these... round circular type things on my phone lines... everywhere. and theres 2 of them together. it looks like the things youd see at the end of your stereo antenna....

Either load coils to add inductance to the line which allows calls to be placed on LONG local loops without echoes or squealing, or repeaters which regenerate data signals so they can be sent long distances over copper.

they look like they're metal, but hollow

like a loop.... i was hopin it was some kind of wireless repeater or somthing

Transformers don't do that. And the power that both your house uses, and the power station puts out are AC. Transformers take high voltage, low current power in the lines, and transform it to low voltage, high current power for your house.

you guys are CRAZY..those "balls" are there to "mark" the lines so helicopters can "see" the lines and 1 not run into them and 2n so the power co helo can "see" the line so they can inspect it

Thanks for clearing it up, like I said I had no clue, just knew what the boxes are called :)
