Yes, people speculate they are failed FX-55 or 4000+ (meaning either they wouldn't do spec speed at default voltage or cache was partially disabled)

and yes it will work with that mobo (skt 939)

wow looks like an awesome cpu for the price. thanks. are you sure i dont need to update the bios on the motherboard for it to be supported? i'm telling my friend to get this but he has a pentium4 right now and he can't flash the bios of an a64 mobo. any ideas about a motherboard that works with this out of the box (one that you're sure of)? it has to be an agp motherboard. i ask this because usually a bios update is required to support new cores, right? sort of like prescott...also one more question: do motherboards typically stick with the latest bios when they're shipped or do they always have the original bios on them?
