Her family had just come over from Taiwan and they did not speak very good english...she (her parents) changed her name back to her original given name in junior high because she got made fun of.

This reminds me - one of the kids I taught had a name of Tom Watts - now, this is a martial arts class, and we let people have water bottles in the studio if they ever get thirsty . . ..

Some people label their bottles with permanent marker so they don't get confused.

He put his first initial and his full last name on the bottle to label his bottle.

Tom Watts.

After the initial hilarity, I had to pull him to the side to;

- First make sure that he didn't wirte that on this gym uniform at school,
- Secondly, the ramifications of writing his first initial and full last name to label anything.

He was 13 when this happened. And yes, he is naive.
