What's the use of happiness?

I think happiness is worth more then any amount of money. And, you COULD say that happiness won't get you money, unless you happen to a doctor, and healing people makes you happy, you get a huge salary as well. I am sure there are other extentuating circumstances.

Myself, I am very happy aside from the occassional bad grade on a test or homework that needs to be done.

For me happiness is like an illusion.....seemingly so real but always so far out of reach.

*note* My life sucks right now how about yours!

You're just a spider on a wall without happiness.

You can't buy it, can't trade for it, can't make a deal for it... and usually if you look too hard for it, it will hide from you.

Happiness can bring you money, in some situations... but I don't think that money can bring happiness (contrary to what most other people think...).

I think the whole point of making money is to make you happy. But I guess ppl forget it somewhere along the way.

And no, I'm not happy.

Little pebble upon the sand
Now you're lying here in my hand,
How many years have you been here ?
Little human upon the sand
>From where I'm lying here in your hand,
You to me are but a passing breeze.
The sun will always shine where you stand
Depending in which land
You may find yourself.
Now you have my blessing, go your way.
Happiness runs in a circular motion
Thought is like a little boat upon the sea.
Everybody is a part of everything anyway,
You can have everything if you let yourself be.
Happiness runs, happiness runs.
Happiness runs, happiness runs.
Happiness runs, happiness runs.
Happiness runs, happiness runs.
Happiness runs in a circular motion
Thought is like a little boat upon the sea.

Happiness is what YOU make of things. It is all around you, if you open youself to it.

do you really want to go through life sad? I don't know about you, but I feel kinda bad physically when I've really feeling low mentally. I've heard that happiness helps your health, and I believe it

Fcuk money. It's overrated, and EASY to obtain. Happiness, however, takes work and it's probably the most important state anyone could hope to attain. What's more important than happiness?

O RLY? If it's so easy, how much money do you have?

Happiness is easier. Most people obtain it by simply lowering their standards or lying to themselves about how their life is going.

Apparently by your definition, I assume having money would be your version of 'happiness'.

Shortsighted and idiotic, yes, but your definition, not mine. Happiness, or rather, "being happy" is the goal of every single being alive - it's the drive that pushes people.

But how to do so without being "ruthless" and what would you even define as being "ruthless"? People have different parameters for what is acceptable and what is not, but I would argue that most, if not all, people have overlapping values, such as "thou shalt not kill".

And the other question being, what is happiness? Material goods? Having a family? Being well-educated? Or is it some other intangible thing?

And to throw a curve - in terms of Psychology, people's "drives" are something they wish to overcome, not gain; usually it also carries a negative connotation as well - for example, hunger is a drive that gets you food, lonliness is a drive that makes people look for mates, greed is a drive that makes you want material goods, etc. Then is 'happiness' simply a lack of pain? Would people be naturally 'happy' if there wasn't pain?

Going back to the topic of happiness, there's so many varieties that it'd be hard to pigeonhole one as all-bearing: the immediate gratification of material goods isn't the same as the rush of embracing someone in the throes of passion, bor are they the same as simply being content with one's life.

And wtf? What's with the armchair philosophy people putting up random mushy crap or situation specific junk on something . . . wait a sec . . .

/looks at OP and the forum

Oh, damn.

:music:
You're dead for a real long time
You just can't prevent it
So if money can't buy happiness
I guess I'll have to rent it

See? This is what I'm talking about. You judge by quantity of money. Why does that matter? Some people are only "happy" if they have mountains of cash; others are happy because they can live within their means and realize what's important and what's not (money isn't).

You cannot possibly convince me happiness is easier to obtain. I could get 10 jobs daily that give me money. The same could not be said about happiness.

I'm 31, and have gone through more in my short life than many will in their entire lives. I understand what's important and what isn't. Money isn't and it cannot buy happiness.

Ugh. When someone says "money buys happiness" they are implying that having "more money than normal" buys you happiness, not just "any amount."

I honestly believe that for most people, money does not buy happiness. But that is not true for everyone. Money buys some people happiness and honestly, some people are happier with money than with a spouse or kids or religion, or whatever "warm and fuzzy object/life" you can invent.

For myself, the more money I have, the happier I am. Maybe I have an inferior personality. Maybe I have a superior personality (I believe I do), but the point is, money does buy some people happiness.

I absolutely agree with you...diff'rnt strokes for diff'rnt folks, for sure. My health, family and friends are what make me happy. Money could never replicate the feelings I have for them, and it can never make me happier than those three things.

FYI, my wife and I make a great living here in Orlando. Don't kid yourself...I'm not turning down money. We do just fine. I'm just saying it's easy to obtain and, unless it's all you have, it shouldn't be the most important thing in your life.

Please don't say it's easy to obtain if you have to go to work everyday.
