What's the source of the music you listen to?

Where does the music you listen to come from?

  • Local files on PC

  • Cloud service like Google Music after uploading files from PC

  • Cloud service with music I don't own on local PC or other physical media

  • Speaking of that: Physical media

  • Internet radio (Spotify, pandora, etc)

  • I should plan my polls more carefully next time.

I own a large collection of CD's. I ripped them to my PC back in the late 90's and I still buy them and rip them, although less frequently now. I listen to the rips of those CD's for the most part. If I don't own the CD, I get the music from Spotify (the paid version).

Where does your music come from?

I have a music jukebox PC with 1,100+ CDs in FLAC format and a few dozen more in MP3. The MP3s are mostly from when I don't want to pay $18 for a "deluxe" CD or $30 for an import.

I also listen to Pandora sometimes and YouTube now and then, mostly to find new artists to buy on CD or MP3.

Mostly CD rips, some hi-def downloads. About 4000 albums. All FLAC.

I also maintain a parallel library based on the main library transcoded into MP3 for loading onto my portable players.

I use Spotify a lot. Before that Zune/Xbox Music and Pandora free.

I used to have some CDs, too, but never a big collection. I'm not a collector of stuff.

Mostly Pandora.
I can't stream at work so it's ripped MP3s.

Google Play music. I don't think I'd pay for internet music but it comes free with youtube red (which I find worth it).

Custom Playlist of MP3's ripped from CD's or purchased MP3's as well as FLAC. I do not stream radio/music, I carry 2x 64GB MicroSD cards with MP3/FLAC in my wallet. I also still listen to CD's, Vinyl and Cassettes as well.

Huge MP3 collection from various sources, various internet radio streams and SiriusXM subscription.
