What's the slowest machine you've ever run SETI on?

My slowest was probably a P-100. I recall the days of 50+ hr work unit crunching. Also ran it on a number of 133's and the like. No wonder my avg per WU was around 24 hrs a few months back 🙂

In contrast, I've already done 43 WU since joining Anandtechs team less than 24 hours ago...and I've yet to install this CLI client on a number of machines. Oh how I wish I had more/better machines back in the day...

My slowest clock speed was a P133, but the slowest time was on a K5300mhz, it took a long, long time.

Nice output now. 😀

Oh how I wish I had more/faster PCs NOW! 😉 😀

P 75 was the slowest. I would not of run it but the machine was my Seti Queue. It went off-line last year.

1 unit every 4 days 😀

i have an old satellite lappy, i think around 133-166, but the damn thing couldn't take it. maybe because it only had 32mb of ram. also ran it on an old 166 that i found on someone's sidewalk. the tower is close to 3 feet tall, so I'm taking it apart & scrapping/selling the tower before i ever try anything with it again.

I remember "back in the old days" running SETI on a P133. Ran it until the new client came out nearly doubling WU times.

Slowest was a Cyrix 300. That was a joke. I did that as an experiment, in the days of the Thunderbird CPU's. I didn't know about SETI back when we actually used the Cyrix.

I ran SETI briefly on a Pentium 120, then a 166MMX then a 200MMX and finally a 233MMX. Currently the slowest SETI box is a PIII-600.

When I joined TA back in 2001 it was with a
P3 700e @ 925mhz - 7hrs / WU
P2 Cel 300a @ 450 - 12hrs / WU
K6-2 450 - 15hrs / WU

When I started seti in 1999 I think I had
dual Pentium 233mmx
Pentium 166
Pentium 100

Don't remember for sure but I think I was averaging a WU per day.

Oh, now I have:
AMD XP1700+ @ 2.2ghz averages about 2:10 / WU
AMD XP1700+ @ 2.0ghz averages about 2:25 / WU
AMD XP2400+ @ 2.0ghz averages about 3:00 / WU
Intel P3 1.26 averages about 4:00 / WU

I can't compete with some of the other TeAmmates here, but I ran SETI on my trusty ol' P2 400Mhz. And if you think the GUI is slow, just imagine what it was like with a P2 and only 128mb of ram haha. About ~30hrs/WU.

Today I just have 2 x 2000+'s running it + a friend's Apple G5 😀

My slowest was a 486DX @ 120mhz, It was my Aunts computer and in the entire time it was on there it only got to 20% (est. total ~120hours)

only signed up for seti a few weeks ago. but I have it running on a P180MMX (200mmx underclocked). it takes a long time. about another 16hours till it sends back its next wu.

On a G5! how nice 🙂 Do you know the cpu times that baby has?

The slowest pc I ran Seti on is a Dual (Abit BP6 😀) celeron 366Mhz, still taking 16hrs..

I was running it on 4x P166MMX's up until about 6 months ago, did about 1wu every 2 days each

That's some awesome overclock on a (I presume?) K6-x series processor. :Q

My K6-2 400MHz only went up to 450MHz while retaining stability, and I think I did run SETI on it a little bit (though back in those days I think it did mostly dnet, F@H, and ECCP-109).

Well, a dual p2-333 that still crunches just under 3 wu/day. Actually, for it's speed, this is my fastest machine. 😉

As for slow crunch-times, 28.5h on a p3-600 by v2.66 and 13h50m on MP2400+ by v2.20...
